I'm brand new to Linux and am having slight issues. I enabled the desktop menu and have used add/remove. I got a couple of things fine but recently I added some new games and I can't find them. They aren't in the games menu and I don't know where to look in file manager etc.

How do I get to them?

RIght, I've found them in /usr/share. I then tried to run them. Taking doom as an example, I got into /usr/share/doom, which gave me the file freedoom.wad.

I entered./freedoom.wad and it refused. I used chmod 700 and chmod +x, both of which were refused ("permission denied")

    Any ideas?

Idea: Open a terminal window (Alt-F2) and type (without the quotes) "doom"

Executable files are normally installed in /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin
