    Nice job!

But I think I'll stick to replacing the antennas on my D-Link DIR-625 router instead, much less patience needed.

Previously I installed the intel WiFi card with three antenna connectors.

Then I installed a 7dbi antenna to the back of the LCD. But so no improvement in WiFi range????

So I have the AAO a part again and was troubleshooting the problem, and if the 7dbi antenna is the only antenna connected to the wifi card the range is great.

But as sonn as one of the orginal AAO antenna's is connected the range falls back to very limited. If two 7dbi antenna's are connected again the range is great.

So it appears to me that the original AAO antennas are a problem...

I've built a a pigtail cutting the original (white) antenna cable, to connect my dell 1390 aux input to an antenna connector.
This is the result, perhaps i have discovered this post now, and have used another "free space" (i was considering the space used by others, but i was stopped from the metal "arm" who mount the screen...)
I've modded also the connector, to make the audio board fits correctly.

    ...sorry for my english :(

Ps: i have built also a cantenna, a 21 elements Yagi antenna, a biquad Cd spindle portable antenna, a doublebiquad and i'm planning to build a wifi dish to make it working with 2.4GhZ

SkizZO: how is the wifi range compared to the original antenna?

.... old belkin ... antennae lying round.
    ... detached those aerials.
... thinking about installing a second antenna

    _____________________________________

2nd antenna is essential . it gives much higher gain , much longer range .
2nd antenna squashes the radiation to a preffered direction,,

Rather than a simple circular , omni directional pattern , all distamt points
    recieving equal radiation .

LinkSys WRT54G has 2 antenna that can be "aimed" .
I am linked from my Notebook to this WLAN , then it to CABLE internet.
Signal is leaving a house , penetrating a metal building 20 meters away ...
and with very low RF output .
2 antennas are essential . Next upgrade is a dish . Be careful not to iluminate
the disk too much or the signal will be lost . iluminate 80 % ( focus RF so it does
    not "miss" the dish .
    World record is 150km .

World wide free cellular phone system will be in place this year .
It will not be legal . the lowest level is AcerAspires, and anything w/
    802.11b/g Nentiendo DSL , anything with "b" or "g" ...

Upper hardware level will be wrt54g et al , using dishes .
leap frog , over 5 to 50 mile links , linking the world ...

The Flooders like M$ WXP , windows 7 are out of the scene .

Linux will be hacked,, de-bloated , de-flooded to be the controller .
This hack of Linux OS will LOOSE its TextBase , it will be strickly
    G.U.I.
using world known ICONs , photos , picture "verbs" like highway signs ,
to communicate . No learning curve , every human will
compose messages , using photos, icons and
    G. U. I. .
This hacked Linux , wont resemble Linux , nor its boot methods ,
starting takes 2 seconds to move an
    O.S. "memory image" from
    HDD to
RAM and ready for users commands ...

My Hardware has not changed , yet every time i boot Linpus in my AAO ,
it figures hardware . This is waste ,, not needed .

I did W98 , by copying a ready to run "image" of
W98 into ram , ready to use .
I am bypassing the wasteful BOOT process .
    I used an old "XXCOPY.EXE" freebee .
from Tape Bachup inc 'Dataman" ...
XXCOPY actually created the image on a RUNNING
    W98 !

WiFi boxes will NOT obsolete in the next 20 years . They cant be
improved , they are as advanced as anything avail .
Only the programming in the hardware needs tweaking ...

Umm... are posting in the right thread? I'm not sure what this has to do with the topic. At first I thought it was a poem that you wrote. Speaking of which, if anyone knows of some good wifi poems send me a PM.

I discovered a kick A$$ antenna set up.

External 7 dbi antenna on number 1 connector of Intel 4965 AGN WiFi card and two square flat antennas on the back side of the LCD connected to # 2 and 3 (about 4 times large then the acer stock antennas).

With this setup I am able to connect with open routers 5 blocks away.

I believe this is how it works.
#1 antenna is omni directional and picks up everything near by (Up to 32 networks) but is not able to establish a connection with any. But the card switch to antenna #2 and 3, which are very directional, and is able to establish the connection. The reason #2 and 3 are directional is because the antennas have the back of the LCD as a ground plane, of coarse this means you will have to turn the computer around for the #2 and 3 antennas to see the networks on the other side of the screen (behind your back).

I got them with this WiMax card. The antennas are taped on the outside of the LCD cover at the moment.

Just to update, i have installed a new intel 4965agn wireless card with 3 antennas. Wow much better range, im picking up 3 more networks now. Very impressive, not sure whether its having 3 antennas or the improved card or both factors.. either way, fab!

They work better when hooked to a dish you know, Try one of directv's oval dishes.
Bi-Quad rigs like that work better.

I have the same Broadcom 4321 card. In my triple boot system (OSX, Win 7 and XP), Xp is the only OS that cannot find my router.
I know the card works. Win 7 sees the card as a 4328. Is there a solid driver I could use for XP that you may know of?

What's the best performance INTERNAL antenna solution for the Aspireone?

I shall shortly be upgrading the wifi card, probably to a Intel 4965/5100 or 5300.

I don't think there is much improvement that can be done with internal antennas though I'm sure it is possible. I have tried 4 different external omnidirectional antennas and the reception improvement is not as great as I had hoped. If you want to improve your signal, I believe you will have the greatest improvement using a directional antenna and/or a reflector.

    Here are some examples:
