I suspect that this is a documentation error. The SSD interface is PATA and there is no provision for USB in the PATA standard.

ICH7M has pinouts for 8 USB channels.

Pins 1 and 2 on ZIF 40 pin FFC connector are unused.

How could I determine if a line was USB or not?

I could remove the ICH7M and measuring with a multimeter, this approach would have the added benefit of locating the PCI-E lines I need for the 3G PCI-E connector.

Anyone want to donate a dead motherboard?

The cam module is connected on one of the USB???

It means if i take out the camera from the AA1 (after soldering and using some wires) i can use it on any usb port?

Yes, you can use the web camera for USB wires. but the power wire on the web camera is 3.3 volts and standard USB voltage is 5.0.

Did you sell your dead motherboard?

I am looking for a dead motherboard to remove the ICH7M north bridge from and reverse engineer the PCIe wires for a fully functional 3G port and also to locate the 8th USB port wires in the SSD connector pad. I am willing to pay shipping, but am looking for someone to donate a board in the "name of science".

i'm sure most of you know but the usb2 header that's mentioned in this thread (cn11) is where the camera is connected to internally.

Here is an Internal USB Header I built, also shows the wiring (USB) to the ATSC tuner on the daughter board.

it's not plugged into it but it's connected to it internally via the copper traces on the motherboard that go to the connector that the screen plugs into ;)

The test is very simple, can you use the camera while something else is pluged (wired) into CN11? (Two USB devices can not share the D+ and D- wires, power and ground can be shared.)

I believe the answer is Yes, I have TS on CN!! and web camera was working fine.

I lost the left external USB port when using TS on CN11, but cause is still under investigation...

what makes you think devices can't share the signal lines to a hub? how do you think usb hubs work?

if your using linux type the command

    Code:
    lsusb -t

this outputs the usb contents of your machine in a hierarchal list, or in windoze go to the device manager and in options choose to show devices as connected, this will show you that i'm correct ;)

A USB Hub is like a network switch or a traffic cop, directing the flow.

What makes me believe that two devices can not share the same D+ and D- lines WITHOUT a hub?
I have try it and failed.

What you are seeing as Black Sealant is Heat Shrink Tubing. You slide it over the wiring before soldering and then when you are done heat it until it shrinks tight.

I am 53 years old. The soldering to the Mini PCI Express connecting is crazy small. My hands shake 3 or 4 connections wide when I try to solder those. I want to add the 3G Mini PCI Express connector but the proablity of failure is huge with 52 pins that close together.

Did you see the ATSC tuner pictures? Got it installed and working yesterday. Waiting on a long distence USB WiFi device and another DIP switch and my AAO project will be wrapping up.

i think i saw them, you put an antenna on the right side of the security hole didnt you?..

wow the heat shrink tubing is pretty cool..so you just heat it up with a blowdryer right? and how do you get the cables to stay so still on the mobo? do you apply glue underneath them (with some super thin glue gun?)? doesnt that have a bad effect on the mobo?

The wires are CAT5e solid strand 24 guage copper wire, they hold their shape. They are attached with 5 minute black epoxy, which you can see in the pictures. The epoxy pops off the motherboard with a good stiff pull of the wires.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for documenting this so well! I'm about to add a BT module and connect it to CN11. I have wo questions:
    1. Can somebody confirm that this mod has no influence on the webcam? (Or that I can not even mess up the webcam when playing with CN11)
    2. I have cheap BT module of eBay. Is it likely it will support software power off (I'm running OS X)?

    Thanks!
