    Touch Screen Panel

Could someone please inform me of what the correct way to solder the touch screen controller using CN11 port would be. Do we use the ground and 5 volt source specified by lufcfan while using the USB+ and USB- from CN11 or do we use all of the connections provided by CN11 altogether. A diagram would be appreciated.

Also could someone please give me a general idea of where they chose to place their touch controller board. In Lufcfans guide he chose to place it on top of the harddrive but has anybody chosen any different locations? Where have people who used CN11 chosen to place their touch controller?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You.

i connected all of the 4 connections to CN11, and used about a 2 1/2" length of wire which is long enough to place the touch screen controller in the area under the access panel on the bottom of the one :)

Ok, so as a HW EE with USB knowledge I can tell you in designing USB HW, there are 8pin TSOP SMT power switch chips ($1.00) that go between the 3.3v or 5v USB power rail and the client device (radio, BT, USB SSD etc.) The D+ and D- data pins route as normal direct to the USB device. It is simply in/out and a SW control or enable pin. If you wire the enable pin over to the enable pin of the 802.11 radio you could for example have the 802.11 radio and the BT module power down at the same time. They even make dual, triple, and quad USB power switches in one chip version. The quad you would use to switch the ports from the USB x4 expansion hub and have control over each port. The other benifit of these switches is that they have short circuit protection build in in case the USB device goes bad you dont loose you motherboard. To mount them or any other SMT chip one simply glues "deadbugs" the part upside down and then solder to the pins with fine wire. For part reference see: http://www.national.com/mpf/LM/LM3525.html

Great thread! Just got done adding a USB port and feeding it through the 3G port, using it to run my flashdrive installation of Backtrack 4 Pre Final :D works great. XferMe's post was especially helpful!

Does anyone have a web site with pictures to show the CORRECT wiring for this?? I just read the post by someone saying the only close-up picture available is WRONG!
