advent notebook bootable please read

hi my sister has an advent notebook with windows xp she has a program called the techguys backup on it which allows you to create a backup os of xp its says it only needs a 2gb flash drive so the os should not take up much memory on my one anyway i was wondering if i made a flash drive with the backup on it would i be able to put on my one if so how i know there are lots of topics on this but i cant seem to find any on booting an xp backup from a flash drive thank you for your time
