    Hello all,

I am posting this message because I would really like to go get an AAO in seashell white. I have been doing research for a few weeks now and have also played around with it extensively at some local electronics store. I guess my only concern are the different hardware and software problems that have come up for other people. For one, I am an average user. I know some stuff about computers, but concerned that if any of these "issues" come up, I wouldn't be able to do anything to fix the AAO.

I keep reading about how hard it is to burn a recovery disc, fan problems, AAO crashing and not responding, etc. And I guess all these things make me a little apprehensive to getting it. I know most people have a really good experience with it, but I'm scared that with my luck, I will end up with a "lemon."

My main purpose in getting the AAO is to take it to school for ppt presentations, word documents, online research and to type papers. Other than that, I don't really see myself using any other intensive programs as I own a Fujitsu Lifebook to use for those things.

I guess my question is, if I'm only gonna be using the AAO for simple tasks like the ones I mentioned above, do you guys think I would run into the same "difficult" problems, such as hardware and software breakdown or crashes?

    Thank you in advance :)

i guess not. mine didn't actually experienced any problem for the past 5 months (using it 12 hrs a day/ 7 times a week). the only problem i encountered was when i installed xp in ntfs format (that was during the first month, AA0 8Gb ssd linpus btw). easily solved it. i use it for the same purpose of yours except that i played warcraft III and CS on it. just take care of it and it will do exactly what it should do. :D

Thank you for your prompt response, Dale. I'm pretty savvy with computers, but not savvy enough to install another OS on the AAO and use them simultaneously. So, I think you may be right. The most intensive program I MIGHT use with it would be iTunes, but even then I have my iTunes loaded on my laptop. I don't really think I would want my library in two places.

The burning of the recovery discs does concern me a little bit, though. Especially now that I see Acer has stopped providing people with the free copies, as reported in the threads here. I don't know how I will be able to burn the recovery discs..maybe d/l it somewhere instead and save myself the trouble and agony of figuring it out on my own?

since i had linpus originally installed in my AAO, the recovery disc is always at my side. with regards to xp, any genuine installer would do the trick. just remember your Serial Key and that would be fine. also, having the drivers is a plus point. these drivers are found in the acer europe web site and some links are found in forums at this website. :D
