I have been reading about the wireless card driver issues on an AOA 150 Windows 7 install, but I had a few additional questions that I fear will be lost in another thread.

I'm in need of reinstalling my OS regardless, and I've done it a few times with the Acer partition disk and OS/Restore disks. I have also disassembled the netbook several times so that does not scare me. My questions are:

    1. Is the wireless issue most easily fixed by installing a different wifi card such as the Intel 5300? If so, I would be willing to spend $30 on the card since I'm getting Windows 7 for free from a friend (legitimately!) I have no problem cracking it open and putting in the new card.

    2. If I install a clean Windows 7, and clear the HDD completely including the ACER recovery partition, what is the best way to go about getting all of the drivers for the current hardware that is in the machine? Will windows 7 find all of the components automatically, or will I have to go searching for each driver individually?

    3. I've upgraded my RAM to 1.5 GB, is this enough to handle Win 7?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

i got the aoa150 as well, and windows 7 works perfect on it,
    no problems at all.
im think the memory limit is 1GB so im not sure if your extra memory wil just be ignored or will only have half of it used

I second that - and the extra RAM helps, that's easy to see on the CPU Meter gadget.
It's far from certain that the wireless problem is a driver problem - AOA 150 simply isn't made for Windows 7. But as far as I can remember, almost all of the drivers are found by Windows 7, possibly with the exception of the webcam and one of the card readers.
If you are missing a driver remember that Vista Sp1 is Windows 7, so a Vista driver will most likely do. You should upgrade.

yeah, windows cannot run off 512 mb memory, so it will use virtual memory, which really slows it down.
all drivers are found in windows update, except the 6 in 1 card reader. to get that, you have to insert a card into it, and then it wil install all drivers for the card reader automatically.
before you do that it will say that there are 3 unkown devices called "base system device" they are for the card reader.
