I found severel threads about the akku, but not very much about weight and size.
Here in Germany I think there are 4 versions available

    the original Acer ones
    - small 2200 or 2400 (?) which fits perfectly to the device (so without any outstanding parts)
    - the bigger 5200
    OEM:
    - 4400 (links to that below)
    - 6600 (links to that below)

I already asked the shop-owners below but did get an answer about size and weight. Does someone of you has one of this?
For me a (really) 4400 wich is not as heavy and only has outstanding parts at the rear would be acceptable. But I don't like the idea
that it will make the netbook higher at rear.
What is with the 5200. Will it lift up ?

    Re: Akkus

I would also be interested in knowing whether there's a difference between the 4400 and the 5200...
From what I read in other posts, it seems to me that the 5200 does not lift the One up: it should be 6-cell, 3 inside, and 3 at the back. I don't know about weight, though...

At least in the UK, the 4400s I've seen are cheaper. If they're also lighter, it might make sense to sacrifice the battery life a bit (to me, at least).

    Re: Akkus

Looking at tech spec will give me the hint, that original 6cell lifts up. That's why I hope that the 4400 will not do this.
But I don't get any info about it. My experience with non orig. akkus are not as good. The performance often stays behind adv.

What I don't know - how much of the weight change causes from the akku and what from the hdd.

PS.: In UK ebay I see even 7200 (9cell) batteries. But this are def. to big/heavy for me. Battery time of 4h would be ok for me.

    Re: Akkus

    I see...

The "battery thread - US version" in the forum suggests that the 4400 and 5200 should be the same size, and that the extra 3-cells are at the back...

But who knows... this whole battery thing is getting out of hand. ;)

Does nobody really have such a 4400mAh thing? And can report about the real performance?

    hello all,

    my first post here...

I have an original 6-cell battery and can confirm that it does lift the Acer up on the backside, but only a few millimeters.
