    Hello,

I have been looking for a decent music player and i've come to like Amarok. But, like most people most of the music on my AAO is mp3. Which Amarok does not want to play. I tried without luck to install the amarol-extras-nonfree libs but:
    You guessed it Dependancy error.

Has anybody succeded in listening to mp3s withAmarok on the AAO?
Please lend a hand to a Linux beginner. I really like the Linpus (it forces me to learn with all its limitations) but not being able to losten to mp3 is a serious deal beaker!

    Thanks!!!

    Hi, thanks for the help

Nice try but no success yet. When I am trying to install livina rpms I am told they are already installed, release 8-3. But there are still dependancy errors when I try to install the amarok nonfrees.
I attached the output from yum for further discussion.

    [user@localhost ~]$ sudo yum install amarok-extras-nonfree

Maybe anybody can make sense out of it.

And sorry about posting in the wrong corner. Beginners section would have been much more appropriate!

Update your Amarok to 1.4.8 and then update your xine-lib to 1.1.15.
This issue solved in "I want an iTunes..." topic (sorry, I can't write the exact link right now). This topic have a link to rapidshare for xine-lib 1.1.15 download.

Or even the 1.4.9 version which is available via the graphical "add/remove software" interface. I successfully installed this together with the extras package which was also proposed.

    Hello,

Thanks for your tips but no success so far. I tried to install Amarok 1.4.8 and -9 and the nonfree extras over the GUI and the terminal but no chance.
Maybe I have to update my repositories? But I don't know if that is possible or how it is done? Any tips?

I installed Audacious for listening to mp3s, but i want Amarok for managing my mp3s collection and my iPod. But I am getting frustrated.

    Yeah, solved!!!

The trick is to update the repositories:
    sudo yum update fedora-release

    Then to update Amarok
    sudo yum update amarok

Then the extras can be installed..

The helping advise came from this form. As usual. Thanks to all!

I am off, listening to my Mp3s!
