I want to install a music player that supports LastFM scrobbling.

Has anyone successfully installed Amarok or Rythmbox ? I see that there are packages available in the Package Manager but I am not really sure which ones I need.

    Hello,

Amarok works fine on the Aspire One, but Rhythmbox can't be installed because of dependencies problems.

    Thanks for the response.

Do you know which of the Amarok Fedora 8 packages I should install ? There is a version 1.4.7-7 "Media Player for KDE" and a version 1.4.9.1-3 "Media Player".

The version I installed is the 1.4.9.1 ;)
Don't forget to install the amarok "extra non-free" package, for full support of audio and stream formats.

Did you guys get the additional codecs working?

I upgraded mplayer and installed the additional codecs to "/usr/lib/codecs" but amarok can not seem to find them ... any idea??
(I did not install any additional xine packages (except for the decencies of amarok of course)

    thanks

Well, I've got Rhythmbox installed on the aa1 and it works like a charm.
I really like the Magnatune plugin.

Now only to get avahi-daemon to run on startup and I can connect to the firefly (daap) server I use for my Soundbridge 1001
(got it working but have to start avahi-daemon manually).

Does anyone get a dependencies error when installing Amarok? It wont let me... :(

EDIT - OK, its randomly allowed me to install it, but the extras package in Pirut is marked as 1.4.8 and the version of Amarok is 1.4.7...?

I successfully used "add/remove software" to install amarok - 1.4.9.1-3.fc8.i386 with no dependency issues.
