I know there is a few of these posts now put unlike the others, I cant even take video's or stills. When I click the Webcam link (anywhere) or try to start it in terminal, it says No supported video capture device found. This is really really annoying because it has worked before. I found it hard to believe that the xfce menu or VLC player could have any input in this put they were the only things installed before it stopped working. PLEASE PLEASE help.

    Thnx again,
    Ady. S

My webcam has worked since day one. I wish the mic also worked (in yahoo IM), but that is another post... Anything I can post here to help compare (dmesg, or start up scripts?). Maybe it is a hardware failure, but how to tell?

    What does the following return?
    dmesg | grep -i video

If you use windows system , go update your WiFi driver to the latest one (Wlan 7.6.0.260) it may solve the problem, I posted it somewhere in the Windows user section on this forum. worth a try

Both VLC has ded and now won't show any videos and the webcam just opens a blank screen. This is a common fault?

I had this happen on mine, sent it back to acer and got it back, fixed, within a week. Suggest you just call the repair number...

    Hi Ady,

I have the exact same problem you describe. Do you have a solution or did you have to have your acer repaired?

    Thanks,

    Martijn

I update my WLAN to version 260 successfully. Try installing the Suyin driver for WEbcam but in no avail...same error message "Please plugin you Acer Crystal Eye webcam device to the USB port."

Anybody here tried removing the camera module and connecting it to external USB?

    Hey

just read the post about sending it off to acer and it sounds very tempting. I havent done anything yet but post back when I do. Question to benedictireland: did they tell you what the problem was and did they have to wipe hdd?
