DO NOT use Kaspersky. It occasionally causes BSODs.

You learned that the hard way, too? I was hesitant to try a Beta AV, but decided to give it a whirl...mistakezilla...

    Definitely recommend the Avira, though.

I have PCTools firewall installed, as well, but Windows firewall won't acknowledge it, so I get constant Action Center warnings. Do I need to set is to run as admin?

I have installed Avast and so far so gud.

BTW, Initially I tried my hands on AVG & Kaspersky and they did not initialize at all.

Been using ClamWin antivirus on Win7 32bit here for a week or more. No probs at all. It has no active/resident scanner, I kind of prefer it that way.

Using clamwin (not an active system protector) and call me crazy but I think the scans run faster in 7 than they did in XP.
