The prices over here in the UK are so inflated and apparently Acer have no plans to release the 160gb model in the uk.

Do you guys know of any retailer who would ship to the uk?

the Samsung NC10 is coming out in the UK in a week or two, it has 160GB HD, 6-cell battery and is pretty much the same (or better) than the AA1 in most aspects, for only £299.... It'll be cheaper and easier to import from the US

Are you able to import from Canada more easily than from the US? Prices and a range of Ones seem to be available there? Would you be charged duty to import from Canada? I may be naive but I'm trying to be helpful.

yes... basically when buying from anywhere outside the EU, you'll be charged standard VAT and import duty. If the package is marked as a gift, then they'll exempt these, but if they get suspicious and open the package to find a bran new laptop with an invoice etc, they'll pretty much automatically slap on the tax and import duty (along with possibly a fine?)

ebay may be an option if you can find a trustworthy seller willing to ship to the UK........
