Any way to lower the screen brightness more?

    The default lowest setting is still pretty bright, and I want to conserve as much power as I can. Any suggestions?

    you need a really old bios, or perhaps a new one. What are you on now?

    Where do I check? I bought my AAO last October and haven't updated the BIOS.

    check in your BIOS for version number.

    So basically I just flash the Gateway BIOS and I'm good to go?

    EDIT: w00t! Worked! Much darker now.

    if your running xp try desktop lighter. you can vary the brightness quite a bit!

    Unless it can control the backlight's brightness (which it can't, afaict), it won't help you save the battery.
