Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

    Did you make this working?
See IOPCMCIAFamily.kext here (at the bottom of my posting)
    viewtopic.php?f=14&t=19536&start=180#p115308

Be careful of the above it just kill my installation.

    Another link to IOPCMCIA
    http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... pic=156546

We have to find the right IOPCMCIA or IOPCFamily.kext that works with Acer aspire machines. No matter what sort of pci-e wifi cards would like to buy which working in MB or MBPro if will not work in AAO. IOPCMCIA - plugins IOPCIFamily must be working first to see the card. I think nothing wrong with atheros AR5006EG / AR5007EG (device vendor ids: 168cx001c).

This one seems to work according to the posting. Beware don't blame me if this will kill your installation.

I am trying it now. I will do another install and report here if this is working.

    IT IS WORKING!!! IOPCMCIA.kext.

I also found out that the WIFI is actually a Broadcom chipset --- Broadcom 4315 (pci,14e44315)

    PC1 -1 slot
    Type: Ethernet Controller
    Driver Installed: Yes
    Bus: PCI
    Slot: PCI Slot@1,0,0
    Vendor ID: 0x10ec
    Device ID: 0x8136
    Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x1025
    Subsystem ID: 0x0244
    Revision ID: 0x0002
    Link Width: x1
    Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s

    PCI 2 slot- Broadcom 4315 (pci,14e44315)

    Type: Other Network Controller
    Driver Installed: No
    Bus: PCI
    Slot: PCI Slot@3,0,0
    Vendor ID: 0x14e4
    Device ID: 0x4315
    Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x105b
    Subsystem ID: 0xe01b
    Revision ID: 0x0001
    Link Width: x1
    Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s

I can use the LAN now.

WIFI is not yet working - I edited the IO80211Family - AirportBroadcom.
I still have to update the Extensions.mkext

    Broadcom 4315
I am trying this one now:http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=195744

STILL Not working the problem is this:

    Type: Other Network Controller
Driver Installed: No <----------- This is the problem. we need to find the right driver for this broadcom 4315
    Bus: PCI
    Slot: PCI Slot@3,0,0
    Vendor ID: 0x14e4
    Device ID: 0x4315

THIS BROADCOM 4315 is known not working in SL
    http://s10lenovo.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=3986#p28098

This is the same - Broadcom 4315 WiFi card
    http://myhpmini.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... &start=144

    Is it 4315 or 4312?
    http://myhpmini.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... &start=276

It seems that these 2 postings seems to make BC 4315 working!!!?
    bcc9's AppleACPIPlatform patch

    http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... pic=215846
    http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... pic=181293

Installed the bcc9's AppleACPIPlatform patch did properly loading of network stuff but still could not find the right driver.

It still the same, Driver Installed: No

    Type: Other Network Controller
Driver Installed: No <----------- This is the problem. we need to find the right driver for this broadcom 4315
    Bus: PCI
    Slot: PCI Slot@3,0,0
    Vendor ID: 0x14e4
    Device ID: 0x4315

I think the solution is to rebrand broadcom 4315 to Apple airport. Using this tutorial.

    http://prasys.co.cc/2009/12/rebranding- ... s-airport/

    Change:
    0x14e4 to 0×106b <<----Apple ID
    0x4315 to ????

We have to find the right airport device equivalent.

I need to install ubuntu in this machine. It seems 9.10 Livecd is not working properly in the machine. I tried once. I have to check how to install it properly then I can change the broadcom wifi into "apple airport card"

If you can get WIFI working that would be awsome!!!

Now all we need to figure out is how we can change

the graphix chip to nvidia Ion. (Wish it were possible.)
    :-(
...stupid intel graphix, stupid gma 500...

**EDIT** Tried it with my dell 1510 card, no go.**

Is there any new setup for graphic?

I mean: were You successful to recognize gma500? So far as I read there is no way for that on SL.
I will try Broadcom's Crystal HD for some improvement soon. Do You know anyone who tried it on hackintosh?
About wifi I'm so glad I bought usb adapter 2cm long for 15$ and I don't bother myself with this issue...

Re: ao751 Mac Os X 10.6 USB Installation via Mac 10.6.3 upgr

    Which method have you used?

Analyzing my system i've noticed that DCPIManager (http://casualsight.com/index.php?op...d=0_6a2b5d97954490c3536705e0818d28a9&Itemid=7) says that US15W is unrecognized infact all PCI part of the chipset are marked as "Unknown Device".

But the system seems to work ... usb ok, vga quite ok ... this means that the system is running the default kext without any particular improvement.

I think that should be possible to create an injector kext by which we can map the 8086:8100 etc with the standard intel drivers. With this methos I think it should be possible to make all the upgrade without any problem and all the devices that seems not running should return ok.

But I need help, how can we write this injector?

I've seen a Broadcom injector in which there is a /Content/Info.plist only ... let's try to write ...
but first I'd like to know from other user if the "Unknown Device" issue is valid for all or it's only my problem, may I have some feedack on this?
    Thank you

Re: ao751 Mac Os X 10.6 USB Installation via Mac 10.6.3 upgr

methods like in post beginning. 10.6 now - 10.6.3 without big improvements, 10.6.4 upgrade or combo installer both boot fail.
I don't know how to help You more. I'm happy with external usb wifi dongle and 10.6 on my ao751h - hope for less kp which occur when I surf too much...:)

Re: ao751 Mac Os X 10.6 USB Installation via Mac 10.6.3 upgr

    dears,

although I don't own an Acer ao751, have a Packard-Bell DOT/M instead, I was able to set it up using this guide

    - sound works perfect (if it is a bit cracking, just turn down the volume in your favourite player or in the system settings)
    - display works perfect
    - ethernet works perfect / wlan don't, but I just ordered a Apple Airport Extreme Card MA688Z/B BCM94321MC on ebay so this will be fixed soon :D
    - webcam works great in skype

now my only problem left is the mic  but I think it could be done/resolved like in Ubuntu with this tweaking: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Aspir ... Microphone the problem is that I haven't found a tool yet to set the sound channels levels on the capture device

Is there a tool like the Ubuntu ALSA mixer for OSX?

cheers and thanks again for this great guide!!!!

ps: if anyone finds any mistake, they can keep them  :D

    fixed the mic :D

if you want to use the mic follow this:

goto system settings - VoodooHDA - select '3: Microphone (ATAPI)'
move 'stereo base' all the way to the right and
move selector 'IMIC' to the level that fits your level

and your done  :p  :D

mic works perfect in skype

btw: using OSX 10.6 no updates installed, latest VoodooHDA from google.code site running on Pachard-Bell DOTM

if you upgraded to 10.6.3 and use netbookinstaller 8.4pre, you should have trackpad already in the system preferences, just click it and check the click for the pad to be functional.

    Cheers,

just in case anyone is still reading here: added a TrendNet TEW 648UBM to my system and it runs just perfect on 10.6.2 :D :D

it also does somekind of sleep, not completly but it turns of the screen, usb, sound, wifi and saves a LOT of battery power

Is it possible to prepare special installation disk for ao751, which contain all files needed to correct install macosx?
