Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

Ok I think I'm moving backwards I reinstalled xp on fat32 and now whenever I boot up nbi it get "can't find Mach_kernal" except when I load from a cd the 0.8.3rc4 version it loads but hangs at the apple pinwheel screen even the rc5/final version of the cd says can't find Mach_kernal

so once again I'm stuck and am not sure what's going on

    thanks,
    Cameron

Just forget about windows until after you get osx on, you are going to need to format the hard drive anyway.

I worked on it all night last night, there are three spots where you can change the appleintel kext,

tried all three to no avail, still could not see my internal hard drive,

you must have to replace it before you make your thumb drive,

I take it is not an option for you because you don't have access to a mac

I burned about 5 CD's tring to replace the kext in the CD Netbookinstaller ver. to no avail :!:

your right im thinking theres something wrong happening when you try to replace it in transmac

something isnt being imaged right or something

so the question becomes how do i get the right boot files in the right place to get it to see my Hard Drive

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

Perhaps someone who has replaced the file and gotten this to work could upload an image for the rest of the users seeings how there are encountered problems with the install

I'll keep trying and if I get it to go I'll most certainly be posting the image and how to

Do you mean you don't know how to get the image or you don't know how to post the image?

If you have access to a pc you can download a program called transmac

Once installed you just plug your USB stick in and when it shows up in the program right click on it and "save disk image" then upload that to the forum.

Mac 10.6.2 just show contents of NetbookBootMaker 0.8.3 RC5 and look for files with search tool - replaced this three places. Made image of sl disc or image (tried both works) on usb 8gb Kingston (tried also external 40gb hd but didn't worked) like Mechdrew wrote and than run NetbookBoot Maker RC5 succesfully

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

Brogie did you have to use 2 usb sticks for the install

    1 for the snowleopard disk
    1 for the netbook files

    or just one stick total?

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

    I just have one suggestion:
    did You tried EasyBCD?
    http://thegadgets.net/trickt-boy/tips-a ... 7-on-a-pc/

i didn't tried it but if You are on pc and can't use mac You could make active partition with this soft...

I think best configuration is to install SL first with netbookbootmaker. Than boot from DVD with W7, install. use EasyBSD for dual boot...
