Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

My simple dual boot setup/ different from page 3 tutorial.

    Main thing I expirienced:

    1. AAO 751h can't be running with battery for installation
    2. any usb device (mouse, stick...) kills reboot after successful installation

Installation follow mechdrew apart of one replacement of kext inside NETBOOKBOOTMAKER 0.8.3 RC5. Open "SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS" WHEN YOU CLICK ON APP search for AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext and replace it with 250kb one You can find here: http://www.mediafire.com/?jmkgrgkjeyi

You can also make Fat second partition when You make 1st jurnaled partition for Snow Leopard (save some time)
    Mechdrew tutorial:
    http://osx.mechdrew.com/guides/nbi1.shtml

You can upgrade to 10.6.2. After any upgrade run NetbookInstaller. (Again for NetbookInstaller run need to unplug battery)

    Sound:
Really bad quality and no internal or external mic working. (usb phone works)
there is one VoodooHDA.kext which worked for me: size 537 KB (524 657 B) not 209KB one.
"Fix sound, by removing AppleHDA.kext from /system/library/extensions (create a backup!), the install VoodooHDA.kext (goole it!)"

    Installing win 7
Just restart choose dvd installation with w7 disc in bios extended
follow instalation reformat Your fat partition to ntfs and after installation

    istall easy BSD http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1
    and follow this guide:
    http://thegadgets.net/trickt-boy/tips-a ... 7-on-a-pc/

so far this works for me best and I have install it many times on other netbooks too.

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

after much mucking about and reading this thread several times I finally for my AAO751h-1196 running fairly well
the video is a tad slow and no internet
webcam is still down... but that is minor

I've been working on getting wireless running and messing around with the Atheros AR5007EG stuff that I have read here and on other boards to no avail.
I decided to check the exact card drive for Windows 7

Turns out Windows is using a broadcom driver
so I grab my screwdriver and check for myself
now the chip in my AAO751h-1196 has a sticker marked BCM94312HMG
and BCM94312HMGL is silk-screened on the card itself

is there a difference in sub models?

I'm going hunting for a few kexts to test

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

now i can run by usb HDD even eth0 working with RTL1000 kext. i have no ideia why no it´s working now because it NEVER worked in any installation that i tryed before.

    what i did now:

    bios options:
    network boot: disable
    f12 boot...: enable
    d2 recovery: enable

mac osx install dvd restored to usb HDD and patched with Netbookmaker 0.8.3 (usb hdd 3 partitions - 1mac os install - 2 mac os - 3 stuff = all GUID)
i´m downloading the 10.6.2 combo update to run it and after i´ll try to restore to internal hdd and try to boot on it!
    wish me luck!

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

Save Your time and get USB Wireless Adapter N 150Mbps WiFi XP/Win 7/Mac from ebay it costs 14$ with shipping, works great on ao751h and my other older devices...
it's so small and easy working I would rather work on my ao751h 10.6.2 stable install than check some kext no one was successful yet. Same with graphic I give up now for gma500 mac os x compatibility

new netbook installer with replaced kext works finally(like RC5 replacement) on 10.6.2 install. There is no special improvements

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

    well still no network access...
I just tried the RTL1000 kext brandl was talking about

but on the upside the cam is working now

Last night I did a clean install on a 32gig SDHD card
It's amusing as hell to be able to switch from OS X(SDHD) to Win 7(SATA HD) to Jolicloud(SDHD)
I use the SATA drive as shared space for all the OS'

I have a couple of USB wireless adapters I'll try out but at some point I'll figure out the internal wireless
if it works in Jolicloud there has to be a way to make it work on OS X

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

well this is pretty awesome other than the fact I proved I'm a forgetful bastard

the RTL1000 kext works just fine if you remember to to reset the permissions on extensions after you install the kext

so all that is left is a cleaner gma500 and wireless

    EDIT
watching Dogma on it now via quicktime
audio sounds good and the video is choppy but watchable

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

well, as i was very sad for this big fight... i did AGAIN (11498454321231231231313 time) a full format and fresh install using the netbookmaker RC5 trick method (open the package and put AppleIntelPXIIATA into) and ran install again... PERFECT!

now i´m able to put the usb hdd internal and boot internal, webcam... FINALY!
BUTTTTTT, as nothing is that good, i lost internet conecction
when boot loading log says when loading RTL1000kext: " ethernet adress: FF:FF:FF:FF:FF: --- so, not UP!
i tryed to remove and reinstall this kext from E/E and S/L/E but.. no success!

    so my questiona are:
1-what should i do to complete remove this kext? (is there any other folder that it can be loaded from?)
2-what rtl1000.kext version should i try to make it work again? send-me link to download please?
3- where should i install it? E/E manually MOVE or S/L/E trough Kextutility?

thank you a lot and let´s go!

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

    after I installed rtl1000.kext I re-ran NetbookInstaller.0.8.4.pre

when it fixed permissions on the extensions I think that is what got me running
I forget at this point where I grabbed the kext from but it was prob http://www.kexts.com/cat/7-network.html?sort=&page=1

if you can't find it drop me a PM

    on another note...

    the 10.6.2 refuses to update
I think it's because I installed to an SDHD card

I guess I'll have to install to a HD and see if that works

Re: AAO 751 Mac Os X Snow Leopard via NetbookInstaller USB

Network has always worked for me OTB, I have never had to install any KEXT for it.

As for the wifi, SL doesn't even recognize that there is a card there, it needs to be enabled some how.

Wether in the BIOS( witch is not an option with the currant ver.) or some how in SL.

If someone is intrested in researching this and trying to fix wifi, search for enabaling hardware in SL.

    Does anyone apply 10.6.3 Update?
Today I applied it on my AAO 751h. After that, kernel panic happened.
So if someone apply this update successfully, please let me know how to do.

Tried 10.6.3 installation both ways with nbi and nbm 8.4pre and 8.4rc1 and always replacing AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext 250kb due to see internal HD. There is no kp but freeze nbi icon with dashed circle logo on the apple during boot

10.6.0 and nbi 8.4pre - there is finally good sound! I don't know how this happened but on 10.6.2 and 8.4pre I don't remember it was so clear... It's not perfect but there is some improvement.
