    Hi

I'm big fan of this game and was searching for proper drivers and configurable commands to run it.

    YOU NEED:

Original Hl2 game or demo from steam
    steam
    I have 1gb ram
    oc soft
    newest drivers from intel 8.14.10.2023

    YOU MAY:
    (it help somehow)
Increase page file x3 available system RAM
go to control panel then system and security, then system, then on the left hand side click advanced
system settings, then performance then advanced, then click on the windows partition (current active OS)
and then put the custom size as...Initial as "1000" and maximum as "1000" and then click on your other partition (non windows
partition) put the custom size (Initial & Maximum) 3x your RAM size

    EDIT COMMANDS
Thank to Oscar from 9xx he wrote me some ideas how to run hl2 on
    http://groups.google.com/group/intel9x- ... 60e09ac2ac

    "Oscar
Anyway in your Steam right click on HL2 and choose properties, then you
should see a button who reads: "Set launch options..." click that and a text
    box should appear.

Copy paste this: -dxlevel 70 -high -d3d -nojoy

-dxlevel 70 makes the game play in Directx 7, but here u can put -dxlevel 80
(for Directx 8) -dxlevel 81 (for Directx 8.1) -dxlevel 90 (for the deafult
Directx 9) and also -dxlevel 95 (for Directx 9c). So pretty much choose
anyone of these but as i told you before i recommend Directx 7.

-high simply puts your game to a high priority, this can boost you a bit.

-d3d is simply something i have experimented with, it supposedly will force
the game to use Direct3D instead of OpenGL, and as MAD_BEAST and some others
told me before, Intel's chips don't really like OpenGL, though i have seen
it is better than Direct3D in the HL1 engine. But -d3d you can use if you
want, i haven't noticed much difference but i have kept it there in case.

-nojoy doesn't mean it will take away all the fun in the game :p But rather
tells the game not to search for a plugged in Joystick, this will boost
startup time of the game and might give some boot in game but don't count on
it.But if you are using a Joystick while playing don't use that command."

You can also put commands other ways like "icon properties"
    http://www.tweakguides.com/HL2_7.html was helpful

I HAVE OC MY AO751H TO ~1,57 BUT EVEN WITHOUT IT IT SHOULD WORK AND BE PLAYABLE ON LOW SETTINGS,
I'm checking now what is best configuration
Oscar also advising to "remove anything physics realted to the characters such as ragdoll and stuff like that, that will put some load of the CPU. Also drawing distance makes a different so lowering that might not make the game look too good, but you will have more increase in fps."

    i will try next

    -dxlevel 70 -high -d3d -nojoy -heapsize 1048576 -cl_detaildist 600 -cl_detailfade 800

    works best now

i checked again (fresh w7 install) trick with second partition and memory and it's hard to say is it working better... I took it from alpha drivers of 9xx and from my dell 10v. Also about drivers: old(2020) one seems to work same. Now I oc only till 1,46 - I read it's best safe setup.
