For a while they were sold out on Amazon. Both the sapphire and white are back on pre-order today. Price is $399 and there is free shipping. I checked with customer service and was told Amazon will send an email when they have a shipping date to those who have pre-ordered. (They claim they will be released soon). The upside, until it is shipped, they claim you can cancel.

But it says model AOA150-1001 instead of AOA150-1447.

But it clearly says 6cell / XP / 1GB / 160GB so that should be good.

 

Ugh...I'm getting anxious. C'mon Amazon! I hope that 9/28-10/10 ship date is a conservative estimate. I'd love it if it arrived early. I don't know if I can wait that long!

 

I wandered into my local Canadian NCIX store last Friday and picked up a black 160g model. Only two issues - it really shows fingerprints, and it came with Windows (I'm a Mac person - so changes will happen). It is worth waiting for, Roger

Did the black 160GB version that you purchased come with the standard English keyboard or the billingual one? I ordered one from NCIX and the representative said he belived that it had the standard US English keyboardd. Also do you know if the pci-e expansion slot on the bottom actually has ther pci-e connector on the board. Thanks!

 

Any ideas if acer is going to release an 8gb or higher SSD drive One in stores? I know they have them on newegg for $399 8GB 1Gb of RAM and 6 cell battery, but they are sold out. Besides, I would much rather get one from a store than online. It just seems like the only fuss is about the 160GB version.

seems like virtually all atom-based netbooks are on massive shortage. very difficult to find acers, msi and asus netbooks.

 

Burned again by bogus availability!!!

I ordered an Acer Aspire One 6-cell Sapphire Blue from PC Connection on September 13 with an expected arrival date of September 18th. The sales rep could not have been more confident of that fact as he took my order....

AAAARGH!!! :x I just learned that the "sure thing" date for the arrival of the next shipment of Aspire Ones on September 18th at PC Connections turns out to be bogus! The "new" delivery date is the 29th, do us abused consumers have any reason to be confident in that date? No way!

What disgraceful business practices!

I challenge retailers to be ethical and end this nonsense: do not accept customer orders until they have proof that the shipment has left the port. Is that too much to ask?
