I got ram that works in my AOD260... the secs on the ram sites are wrong, it kept saying DDR3 pc8500 1066Mhz... it should be DDR3 pc10600 1333Mhz, i bought a 2 gb stick from JR.com part: CRT 2G25664BC13

it works just fine, it booted right up. i thought the max for win 7 starter was 1gig but system info reads 2 gigs...

as for how to put ram in, you have to remove the keyboard, unscrew some screws and pop off the bottom... there's some pretty good vids on youtube about it...

    Thanks for the heads up!

I now have 2GB of DDR3 in my AOD 260.

    I used Crucial memory, 2GB, 10600 CL9. Part number CT25664BC1339.

what kind of speed improvements are ya'll seeing? I have a AOD 260 and i'm on the fence whether it is really worth it to upgrade? I'm not worried about the price as it is really cheap to do. I just don't want to void my warranty if it isn't going to be much faster than it is right now. I have no problems tearing computers down and replacing parts and such as I've built a few computers. Just wanting to see the speed improvements I guess is all.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

So I'm confused. All the specs online that i see say that my d260 has DDR2 ram 667hz. It's a AOD260-2919 with the atom N450. All the specs that i see for the N450 says that it takes DDR2. Which RAM should i get?

    Hi there,

Get yourself a copy of CPU-Z and give it a whirl, should give you an indication of the type of RAM you currently have installed (i.e. what works) and you can base your judgement on that.

Be warned thoguh, not everything CPU-Z tells you is true, its just to give a general outline and you to then research and use your judgement on!

    Hope that helps

So apparently i have a the only D260 with DDR2 ram lol i ordered some G-Skill ram and it didn't match up with the slot and it is a DDR2 slot lol. So if anyone wants some G-Skill DDR3 2gb ram. send me a message. only paid $25 for it with free shipping, but newegg wont refund ram unless its DOA. Looks like i'll be upgrading my ram next month lol
Thanks for the help I'll get there eventually, lol just weird that it told me that I had DDr3, but O well i can say that I successfully disassembled my computer and it still works completely, good trial run i guess.

I also have a D260. I ran SIW on it, and got a blend of factual/erroneous info--it reported two DIMM slots, 1GB of DDR2-6400, and a max of 4GB of RAM. The two DIMM slots is false, but I disassembled it and verified that the ram is 1GB of DDR2-6400. The only thing I'm not sure of is whether or not it really has a max of 4GB of RAM. Can anyone confirm this? I don't want to buy a 4GB SODIMM if it's only going to recognize 2GB of it (or worse, not boot at all).

*EDIT* My guess is that it wasn't entirely false that SIW detected two slots--the other one probably was the one that normally had memory soldered to it, it just doesn't in the case of the D260. And that being the case, is the max amount of RAM really 4GB, with each slot maxed to 2GB?

to my knowledge our intel atoms are limited to 2gbs of ram. While 4gb may boot i doubt it would recognize the full 4gb

If the D260 is like the D255, it comes in many different flavors. Some use DDR2 and others use DDR3 - depends on the processor.

I went to CRUCIAL.COM and let them look inside my 'puter - and I bought what they reccommended - in the cheapest good brand I could find (Patriot).

My Black Friday Special is now a monster!

Hey first post here. I have D260-1270 with Atom N550 and can't find information on my model anywhere. It came with 2GB DDR3 and I'm wondering if I can upgrade it to 4GB. It comes with W7 Home Premium. Anyone have this model and upgraded?
