I owned 3 Acer laptops (currently having the Aspire 6920g and Aspire One).
1st laptop was online downloading for more than a year 24/7 - no problems.
2nd laptop (Aspire 6920g) took over the 1st laptop and still running on it's 3rd month - no problems.
Then I bought an Aspire One 110 a week ago - LOVE IT!

Reliability? I can say it is pretty reliable.
Never had one break down on me.

Got myself an model 150 today (with some 3G usb modem), with 120gt hd, 1gb memory and XP.
I just have to say that I'm really pleased to this little one this far. Got all my important files in and some leisure stuff as well, still got room for some more stuff,
Display is really clear, even tho I got some second thoughts about this small screen.

No more back problems for me from carrying those heavy laptops...

The ladypal's sapphire blue AA1 (120gb model acquired from Best Buy) has been going strong for nearly a full month now of daily use, with the biggest problem to date being fingerprints. My black 6-cell supposedly arrives today and I'm expecting few problems if any, although I'll check the BIOS version and upgrade / downgrade as needed. I have personally set several friends up with budget-line Acer laptops just as cheap as the AA1 over the last 24 months - they have had no problems so far.

I got the A110 and was happy. I enjoyed playing with Linpus and was using the built in apps for a while. I installed a few extra apps, Thunderbird and VLC, and was even happier. I tried OSX on an external hard drive and got very excited. I then cracked the thing open, maxed the RAM, swapped the wifi card for OSX compatibility, and added a 1.8" 80 Gig hard drive. Dual booting OSX and Ubuntu, happiness went up again. Frustrated that the new wifi card didn't want to play nice with Ubuntu, ndiswrapper, and wpa2, I gave the play partition to XP to see if it could handle my favorite game - Sims2. When the base game ran smoothly at full resolution I was thrilled. When I added expansions, hacks, and custom content and it kept running nicely, I was ecstatic. Now, I see there might be 3 cell batteries with 4800 whatevers of power and I'm intrigued. If those are real and really work, they should provide 5+ hours in the same size as the current 3 cell. I think I'll get one and then explode. So, yeah, I'm happy with my purchase.

this is just a post for anybody out there who might be reading this who is on the edge of if they should or should not buy an AA1. first off a bit about me. i've got a desktop at home, a 17" acer laptop, a smart phone and i picked up the AA1 about 1 month ago. what made me interested in it, was it's size. if i ever wanted to take my laptop with me on a trip i had to actually plan on how/where it was going to sit, how i was going to carry it in it's case on board a plane and heaven forbid i wanted to take it out and fire it up on a plane or in an airport it would take up half the row.

on a recent plane trip to the midwest i was so dreading carrying that beast with me that i just left it home. well of course as soon as i got to the hotel i was staying at for a week i immediately regretted not having access to a computer. sure i had my smart phone but the web browsers on those things are essentially useless save for just checking a sports score or something. i began looking for an alternative that i could just throw in a backpack or a carry-on and whip out in a second if i needed to get online or check an email or something. i looked around a bit, saw the AA1 saw that dell had just released it's mini but choose to stick with acer because i have had very good luck with my laptop.

my impressions...first off this thing is tiny. it's about the size of a hardcover book. it definitely will get you some ohh's and ahh's while you're using it out in public. that of course is not the reason i bought it. so on to the real info. if you're looking for a very portable machine for web browsing, emailing, web chatting, movie watching (i no longer need to carry my portable dvd player), mp3 listening, creating/editing documents, spreadsheets, pdf's and what not then this IS the machine for you. i got the linpus version only because i figured it was about time for me to learn how to use linux, and i figured since this wasn't my primary machine that if i got lost or couldn't figure things out i wouldn't be completely out in the cold. learning how to add programs and move around linpus isn't THAT hard, but just like any new thing in your life, takes a little time and patience. if you're 100% against that then just get the xp version an call it a day.

it works well for email, streaming music ( i use pandora), youtube, and i downloaded a few movies to a usb flash drive and watching movies works flawlessly. the only, only complaint i might have after about 1 month of use is the battery life (i knew it was about 2 hours when i ordered it). 2 hours just really doesn't seem that long when you're using it. it seems like i'm always plugging it in. nothing that an extra or bigger battery cant solve though right?

i HIGHLY recommend this to any person who might be on the fence. it was well worth the $329 i spent. i am bragging about it all the time to my friends and fellow workers and i've sold about 3 just by doing that. i don't think i'd recommend it being your only/main computer, but if you're looking for something portable that you can just toss in a bag and run off to the coffee shop/bookstore/library/class then is the thing for you.

The only thing that stops it being perfect is its affinity for fingerprints. Mine always looks grubby. But operationally, and at the price, I really can't fault it.

I hope you don't mind if I quote you to the 'non-believers', lol. A friend of mine simply can't get it through his head why anyone would want an 8.9" underpowered laptop that lacks an optical drive, for almost the same price as a full size 15.4" with better specs. To me it's as obvious as black & white, and I've never even owned a laptop before. This thing is small enough to fit in my glove box. No 15.4" laptop could go where a Netbook can with as much ease. You could take this thing to the top of Mt. Everest and never realize you were carrying a full fledged computer with you.

I love having 5-6 hours of battery life at my disposal, with a full windows XP setup in a light package. I use it in waiting rooms all the time to read ebooks, or watch quick movie snippets. Always gets attention. Non-intrusive unlike my 14" Acer which gives me half the battery life at twice the weight. I don't use optical drive often (all my stuff is on USB hard drives) so installing is easy that way.

There's like three pages of comments already, but I just had to echo some of them.

I have the sapphire blue aao, and it really gets people's attention in a way that the Eees don't... I know a couple of guys who sell them, and they're selling out everywhere around here really fast.

I'm very happy with mine. It's small enough to fit in my handbag (important for a lady ;)), it's light, it doesn't overheat no matter how hard I push it, it's speakers are actually louder than my 14.1" Asus, which the AAO has almost completely replaced.

The keyboard is easy to get used to, it runs a solid non stop 2.4 hours with wifi on for me and (with a lot of tweaking) I can power it down to get almost 3. That means I can whip it out anywhere for a quick read or surf. Still want a 6 cell :)

It's great for presentations, for browsing on the go, word processing, even watching videos :) Does everything I need

Mine w/ 160gb drive and WinXP came yesterday. I find it to be about as fast as other laptops in the 1.6 ghz processor speed class. Wifi works well with no sensitivity issues I can see and in general I think this was a good purchase. The screen is tiny compared to most everything else I've used but not so small that it is a problem. The lack of an optical drive is no big deal. I just mapped a drive in a desktop to the Acer for software installation.

I plan to do some further experimenting by installing more memory and likely adding another OS or two to the system. For portability the Aspire One can't be beat. It should be useful for some time to come.

I started out shopping for an ebook reader, and ended up with a white, 3-cell Aspire One for about the same price. Had some wifi issues at first (the dreaded vanishing card), but flashed the BIOS update and it's been working flawlessly ever since. So far, I'm just in love with this thing. I'm on a weekend trip, and it was so nice to not have to schlep my heavy, expensive laptop. I didn't even bring a computer case, as this baby fits in a large purse with room to spare!

Acer should pay me for the number of people I've demonstrated this thing to the past couple of days!

I wasn't expecting AAO to be the top of the line laptop. As I install applications and games which requires a lot of computer power, I was blown away what AAO can do. It actually exceed my expectation in what netbook can do. Beyond the hard to upgrade, I am happy with the purchase.

I just got my 160gb + 6cell Seashell white Apsire One in the mail about 10 minutes ago. I haven't yet powered it on. I'm just charging the battery and I plan to replace the XP with Linpus as soon as I finish downloading an image.

My initial impressions were as expected, all though I was let down by the weight. I guess my perception of 2.72lbs was a little off. I had imagined it being quite light. In reality I think for the size of the machine, the weight isn't very justified. Could/Should be a lighter device. Maybe I'm slightly spoiled because my experience is with my Sony SZ6 and before that I was using a Dell X1 ultraportable.

I paid 467 all in w/ ship + taxes. For that price I'm on the fence whether I could of dumped in more money and gotten something more well rounded and come on top in terms of "value". But in the end I'm still satisfied enough with the purchase.

What do you guys think about the weight?

been on my black 6-cell for half a day and love it so far:

    boots up quickly
can carry around with no wires
does what i need it for (internet, storage for music pics and videos)
    wireless working fine
    small but not too small

my wife loves it too and we are considering selling her big laptop and getting another one. told her we can still sell the laptop, but wait until what acer plans to do next with upgrades...

How so???? I've had mine for 2 weeks now. I just love the critter. I bought it for my doughter for school (1Gb 120GbHDD) and it just is superb for working with office. My only complaint was the screen resolution, but.... until today. I inserted an SD card to DL some pictures, and ever since the screen simply turns off and flickers once or twice and the turns off permanently !!!!!

Is this a KNOWN issue???? How do I "prevent and fix it" ????

i picked one up last weekend at microcenter and after a week i really love it.. i was having a windows freezing problem, ut i tracked the problem down to a bad virusscan software (eset nod32). after just running the trial software preinstalled the ONE works likes a charm for browsing the net and downloading music..

I bouth my AA1 (AOA-150 120GB - 1GB - XP - 3 cell batery) on October 2008. Since then I have being using it for almost everything and I love it because of the size, confortable keyboard, the quality of the screen and everything works fine although I have to tolerate the screen blinking in dimlight and the strange fan noise sometimes.
Recently my AA1 went dead and I had to flash the bios. This procedure worked fine and it is working again. So far this was the only problem I have had.
The 3-cell battery gives only 2;30hs so I decided to buy a 6-cell battery. Now it works more than 4:30 hours. My final opinion is that AA1 is a very good netbook.
