Aspire 10.1 Bios

How can I tell if there is a new Bios for my 10.1. I just got it from RadioShack it's an AOD150-1165. It looks like the factory bios has a lot of stuff marked out. Do newer bios' fix this?

It's not a driver! It's a BIOS update!
If you're not really familiar with updating BIOS, I would recommend not to do it, because if you do something wrong, you could crash your system (Black screen and nothing else). Maybe there is a way to recover it. There is a way of doing it on the 8.9" model but I'm not sure about this one.

I am well aware of what a BIOS does and the difference between that and a driver. I had the sound driver issue i am having on the brain when I typed that. thanks though for the condescending but unhelpful response.

I'd still like to know what this BIOS update does. There is no documentation on what it fixes or improves that I can find. Anyone?

thanks. looks like a few battery fixes would be the most interesting. I may fool with that this weekend. I actually had the Mobo replaced on another laptop this weekend and for some reason, they had a 2 yr old BIOS on it, so i have to update that too. BIOS upgrade weekend I guess.

Installed v1.08 a couple of days ago. Appears that the screen brightness now stays where set when powering off using battery. No change on fan settings however.

 

I'd say that fan now is more quite...or it just seems so...))

Up to now, the problem with the high cpu usage when you close the lid seems to be fixed

After a couple more days use I have to agree that the fan noise is much improved after loading v1.08! Runs much quieter. Either that or I am going deaf.

 

Maybe the fan wouldnt turn on that often but that resulted in really high temps...

I don't want my D150 fried. I'd rather buy fried potatoes

1.09 is the best BIOS so far for D150. I recommend it.

 

Can you give us more details about v1.09? What changes have you noticed? Does the fan run less? quieter? Please explain. Thank you!
