Aspire 1670 battery lasting 10 minuets fully charged?

    hi!
    OK so, i got a new laptop for Christmas, and it was a second hand Acer Aspire 1670, i'm not sure what year it was made ( in System Properties it says Version 2002 if that helps), but its windows XP, and the battery would run flat in about 15 minuets.

    Acer Aspire 1670, does it have Intel Pentium 4 processor? If so that is an old laptop indeed. Batteries will fail over time. My Dell XPS 15 2012 laptop battery only lasts for about 7 - 10 minutes. If You want, You can buy a new battery for about 99$

    Other than that there is not much other to do than keep a power outlet nearby.
