Aspire 5742Z - LED Backlight and lid switch not working. Win 10

    My apologies, posted this before, went too fast and did not explain sufficiently

    Laptop works fine in every respect, as viewed on external monitor, except that laptop screen itself appears blank and opening or closing the lid does not affect anything, eg sleep (It is set correctly ie to sleep after 10 mins without use on battery or mains, and to sleep when lid is closed!). On close examination the screen does show image but it can only be seen with difficulty. I assume backlight is not switching on.

    I have checked all contacts as best I can and I have replaced the screen, the ribbon cable and the lid switch.

    Inverter cannot be the problem as the screen is LED backlit so there isn't one !

    Aaahhh. Help !
