    Dear all,
Maybe someone can help with this.
I would like to connect my Aspire One to my TV (Phillips Ambilight HDTV).
    TV ports are: 1) s-video, 2) HDMI, 3) composire video [5 RCA], 4) video [3 RCA], 5) USB
Aspire One has a VGA port.
    Any ideas ?
    Thank you,
    Nikolas

I would recommend USB Tv Tuner
USB port which has a connector to an S-VIDEO port.
Should work like a charm

what do you intend to watch on the TV?
I would recommend against going with s-video or composite, they are very low quality (480i).
You would ideally use component but that will not be cheap, you will need a converter for that.

Thank you very much for your reply to my post.
I just want to be able to work with my Aspire One in a larger screen mostly when travelling (hotel TV).
Also, at home, it is nice to review a powerpoint presentation in a larger screen. (My home laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with 17' screen, but still smaller than the 37' screen of the - I have to say excellent - Phillips Ambilight.
I just made an on-line order for a PC-to-TV converter from Sewell Direct (www.sewelldirect.com). The converter is cheep ($39.95 + $7.82 shipping = $47.47 Total) and very small - this is a big plus. It converts from VGA to S-video and to composite (yellow).
Once I will have it, I will test it and I will post my impressions.
    Thanks again,
    Nikolas

Prepare for the worst, sorry to say. Using a TV through composite/s-video to watch video is one thing. To use it to work on, is utterly painful, imo. That's a waste of your money, and you should probably cancel your order if possible.

It's better for him to just buy a usb video card with dvi port. ($35 USD). A docking station with audio, ethernet, usb, vga, dvi..etc cost about $40 USD.

    BTW... S-VIDEO is 480P.

S-Video does not carry a progressive signal.

many have tried to convert the vga output from the aao via converter cable, with little success. the aao's output simply doesnt carry enough info to convert well. you might have more success with a real box though

Someone already mentioned TV tuner and by far that is the best and cheapest solution which will even give some bonus features.

if the tv/hdtv has vga or dvi or hdmi input port you could activate the vga port on the AAO by going to display properties / settings and conect a cable directly to the tv and extend your monitors.

TV tuner is so expensive and the quality isn't that good. A usb graphic card ($40) can output 720P videos through usb on dvi/hdmi/vga ports.
