    Hi there,

I have been through a few posts and couldnt find a similarity to my problem so i thought id ask the question.

I have just purchased a second hand D260 which is out of warranty, this worked perfectly on arrival and was running xp home. It is for my daughters xmas present so today i set about sprucing it up.

I installed a 2gb DDR3 stick which was successful, shows in bios and in windows.

I ghosted the 130gb HDD to a 250gb HDD on my other laptop and then re-installed, all well and no problems. Windows recognised the new HDD and installed drivers etc..

I then updated XP to 7 Premium via a flash disk, verified with Microsoft the pc was okay to run it and installed. All okay, pc rebooted several times during the install and then finally i ended up with a working copy of Win 7. I put in my genuine key and activated windows successfully and had a little play around. I was quite impressed, everything running okay and fairly quickly.

I then shut it down and put it away for a few hours. Came back to start installing some software and NOTHING!! Plug the charger in, no charge light, press the on switch, no power light. No fan, No HDD nothing? I have tried another Acer supply from another pc which is the same spec, size and voltage and still nothing? I have measured the supply and i get 19v at the jack. The battery was fully charged when i shut it down but it wont run from that either?

Any ideas at all would be grateful otherwise looks like im buying another before xmas :-(

    Thanks

    Thanks something,

The problem is similar but my netbook doesn't bring any lights on or spin the fan etc, it is literally dead.

I did try the static discharge procedure but to no avail.

Can anyone tell me if i had a working motherboard with nothing connected at all but the power supply would the power light come on and the fan spin when you press the power button? or do the ancillaries need to be connected to be able to start up.

    Cheers

Have you removed the ram, not just applied the discharge procedure by holding
    down the power button.

Have you tried the harddrive in another machine?

Have you pressed the F2 KEY when powering on.

I know you are capable, it could just be a loose cable or something simple.

    don't give up

The motherboard first checks for ram, then proceeds to installed drives.

    Thanks for the reply,

I have tried to power the board with No ram and two different types of ram. I have also stripped this little guy down tot he bare bones 4 times now and refitted every connector.

When i plug in the power adapter i should get a charge LED and i get nothing but yet i know the adapter is working as i can test this and also try in another machine!

I can measure the 19V getting to the PCB and also at the battery terminals charging the battery but without circuit diagrams i cannot test any further :-(

I have found another PCB for sale which is not too expensive but it is a NAV70 model and mine is a NAV80? anyone any idea what the difference would be. They look the same.

    Thanks
