aspire one mail not working after update

got my AAO yesterday and set up everything OK. mail was working fine. performed the acer updates and now i cant open the email client. when i click the icon nothing happens. is as though the icon is not linked to the program. this also happens with RSS feeds. i have no idea what had happened and no idea how to fix it. the test under the icon is still showing the number of unread mails i have. i thin the application is still on the computer but i cant access it. help !!
