Here's my dilemma, actually own a xps 1330 but i don't wanna carry it out to some places.I need something smaller that let's me code a bit on those places. So looking for a netbook and i'm stuck between the 8gb Aspire one and the eee701 (since those are the ones out here).

I've seen the EEE for 250€ and the Aspire one for 299€ (8gb ssd).

My main doubts are...battery (they will run without wifi turned on) and windows...since i'll probably need to install it.

    So what i should do?

Wait for the HDD / Windows / 6-cell battery version of the One if you want Windows. The SSD-model can run windows, but the HDD model will be better with XP. If battery life is critical for you, you might get joy out of the 6-cell battery that will give around 6 hours of playtime.
I wouldn't buy 701 these days anymore... it's out of date and the resolution of the screen is just plain poor compared to the One and other newer netbooks, 900 and 901 eee's included.

Just imagine for a while in your head, coding on a 800x480 resolution screen.. sounds fun, ay?

Nah. I have one, and I think it's cute. It's in the eye of the beholder though... there's been a lot of bashing of the A1 aesthetics on the Eee forums, too. ;)

For the OP, though... I'd probably suggest the A1 if your'e going to be coding, because its keyboard is closer to full-size. I don't have too much trouble getting by with the Eee's keyboard for surfing/chatting, but I wouldn't want to be stuck using it to type something I'm used to being able to type quickly.

The EEEpc900 and 901 look nice, but the 701 screen is just awful in my opinion.

I chose aspire one over EEE701 as it has bigger screen and better proc. If you can't stand linux(or don't want the hassle), get the XP version. i like the Aspire One's style and the workmanship on this machine is very satisfactory for its price.

I just got the aspire one. I have an eeepc 701. For the same price, I'd go with the aspire hands down. (Or if your a windows person, I'd wait and get the windows aspire one.. I wouldn't run windows on the ssd) With the eeepc I felt like grabbing a bigger laptop everytime I had to read a long webpage. However, I've yet to feel the need to use any other laptop. The screen difference is huge. So is the keyboard. (And hey, a full size right shift key on the aspire one!)

The size, the resolution, but mos of all it just looks "misplaced" with the speakers on each side. Looks like something from the '80s.

I have to smile at this thread,

The OP comes to a board that supports the One (members obviously include a large percentage of One owners).
Then you ask the owners of the One if they think another machine is better.
Whatever the facts, human nature will ensure you don't get a balanced answer.

Where are the benefits? I suppose the post count goes up, it may be that someone is researching human interactivity, but in the end individuals rarely announce that they made a bad decision.

Like I said, I smile at this thread :)

Yeah, you can looka at it that way. Altough I am man enough to say if I've made a bad decision, I can't tell yet. It looks good though.
In my opinion the eeePC 701 can't even be compared to the AA1. The AA1 should be compared to 900 or 901.

I have both at the moment. I changed the 701 to XP after I got it. It works like a dream, much better than I would expect it to be.

I bought an AA1 with Linux and decided to give it a try. It didn't wake up from standby mode on battery power. So I returned it. They gave me another one that wouldn't crash like that. It's running good so far and, yes, the screen is big, keyboard is big, but anyway if I wanted to do things I need a big screen for, I would get a bigger laptop. I do lots of typing, reading, surfing and I just use larger fonts. And when i watch films I have it nearer. The keyboard is also perfect size. After typing so much for months on Eee, the AA1 keyboard feel over-sized but of course you can get used to either, it's no big deal at all.

I wouldn't say I prefer Eee over AA1 or vice versa and I don't see any good reason to switch to the latter. For me XP is working well, although it is not original and for the moment I'm having difficulty sorting things out in Linpus Linux.

I hope this gives you an idea.

I have both too. I think there is no comparison. The 701 is much smaller and has less powerful hardware all in all than the One has. It is therefore considerably cheaper to get a 701 than a AA1. I feel the pre installed xandros linux distro is better than linpus on the One, but of course that could be personal taste.

On the other hand, the One is slightly bigger and has an almost normal keyboard which is nice, and a much larger screen than the eee has. The downside to this screen in my opinion is that it reflects light too well, which makes it difficult to read from in a sunny setting.

Both are good at what they do, but if given the choice at this moment I would either wait for the eee 901 or get myself a One.
