    Hello folks,
I came across a little problem with Ubuntu on my AAO 150L. I like watching videos and movies on my AAO, but under Ubuntu the speaker volume is very low so I can't really enjoy my movies because i don't understand the dialogues. Has anyone got the same problem? How can I try to fix it?
Im using a normal Version of Ubuntu 8.10 and the newes Version of ALSA.

Yes i tried it, but Alsamixer shows that it is 100%. The strange thing is that music is played much louder than films are. I don't understand this.

Then it sounds like the problem is with whatever application you are using.

I use the Totem Media Player which is integrated into Ubuntu, but is I play Music with it there isn't any problem. It plays music as loud as it should be. The only problem are films. But to ensure that there isn't any problem with the player I will try it with VLC and some others tomorrow and will report then.

VLC will let you crank up the volume in the settings. Another media player that lets you really crank up the volume is SMPlayer (smplayer.sf.net). In Preferences, enable software volume control, then set maximum volume to 700%. That should be loud enough to get by...

    Hi,

maybe it's a silly thing, but could be the kind of sound you have downloaded? I meant if it's mp3, AC3 or something similar.

    Regards

I don't think that it's the kind of sound which causes the problem, I tried an avi and also mp3 on both my Dell Notebook and my Aspire One. On my Dell both files have got more or less the same volume on the acer the avi file is very silent.

My solution to this was to use VLC, and preamp it. Just open the equalizer, and crank it up :D
