I wouldn't say the page size is ideal for readers. I use a couple of e-readers, most noteably the following:

    Adobe Reader (http://www.adobe.com)
    eReader (http://www.ereader.com)
    Mobipocket (http://www.mobipocket.com)

My favorite reader is the eReader, as I also use it on my Windows Mobile PDA (also supported on iPhone if you have one)

The Aspire One works great for reading novels, but it isn't a single purpose design like the Sony or Kimbel. A straight across comparison is not very good. They draw very, very little power, and are set in portrait mode so the layout is ideal. However, they won't browse the web, allow for e-mail or typing like you can with a Netbook.

So you will take some trade offs.

The screen on the Aspire One is quite nice, and looks very sharp. I'm not sure how well you will need to see images on the books you plan to read, but the resolution on the screens for an Aspire is typically higher than the book readers (I think they are 800x600, while the Acer is 1024x600).

I bought a used Dell Axim for my portable eBook reader, and use that when I'm on the bus. The rest of the time, I use the Acer.

The other thing is battery. You won't get several days of use out of the Acer like you can out of the Sony or Kimbel.
    Hopefully that helps a little.
