Aspire one will not turn on unless being charged

    hi

    my acer aspire one works fine when plugged in to the charger but will not turn on otherwise.
    this problem has only occurred in th past few weeks and im just wondering if anyone knows what the problem is so that i can fix it.

    not sure if its a problem with battery or something else any help you can provide i would be very grateful

    Haven't had any such problem but my guesses are:
    1. The battery
    2. The battery's connection to the AA1
    Careful cleaning of the battery terminals and the AA1's contact points would be first on my list of recommended actions.

    Check the open circuit voltage from the charger. The netbook works on 12volts, but needs 18volts to charge the battery.

    Try taking the battery out and putting it back in.
