I normally do not post but I have a few hackintoshes under my belt starting from os 10.4.x machines to now a quad core with 8GB of RAM. Let's cut the long story short. I was hoping for apple to come out with a UMPC. MBA is good but it's too pricey. So I started hacking at different machines. I have currently installed OSX using boot 132 on both the EeePC 1000h as well as aspire one. What does that mean? Not much and a lot. All my machines are installed using boot 132, chameleon and retail version of OSX. So I know for a fact that (proven) that I can update my machines without any issues directly from apple. No more breaking of OS, no more kernels to modify etc. I got rid of my aspire one and switched to eeepc 1000h but aspire one seems to work with everything (including sound) minus the wifi but I replace that with actual mac wifi from mac pro (apple cost is 59.95 but you can get on for about 25-35). So I switched back to Aspire one. It's in the middle of the install and I will write up a how-to over the weekend for those of you that want a retail version rather than kalyway version. I am not saying that's a bad version but I like to keep it as stock as I can for my os just in case...

14 minutes of install left and tweaking to get mouse/keyboard and video and it's all set. Make that 12 minutes. ;)

Yep, this is what I've been waiting for. Someone to document the process.

I think dfiore has done this as well, but I think he's been busy lately as he hasn't posted here. Thanks for your work in advanced. Can't wait to try it out!

I've been happy with iAtkos, but the lure of safe software updates is huge. Please post your process when you can, and thanks!

I'm hoping to try an OS X install this weekend so I reckon I'll hold off until your guide's ready (no rush) because I'd love to keep it as stock as possible too.

My brother got himself another aspire one as well. Redoing it on that machine and took photos for you so that we can do a complete write up.

It's looking good. It's installed on his and updating the OS to 10.5.5 now as we speak. I am taking my A1 apart to paint it ;)

here are some photos for a start. We'll get you more and a complete write up hopefully sometime tonight if not before the weekend is over.

I am going out of town tomorrow but I will be back by sometime in the evening. I will do a complete write up (including updating) when I get back and post it here - as well as isos and files you will need to get it going. Oh make sure you have a usb mouse and keyboard handy to do the install since I have not patch the keyboard/mouse support on the iso just yet. One step at a time I guess.

Will see you all tomorrow here.

no need to post ISO's because theyre questionably illegal.
besst thing is to tell people what to search for on a torrent search

I am not going to post the ISO of the OSX. That you have to go get at the store. I will however have to post the modified iso of the boot 132 cd. I am going on a little drive now. Be back later tonight.

I don't think it does. I think this just gives you an easier way to update to 10.5.5 and anything after that because it uses a real retail Mac OSX 10.5 disk.

So, all we will need is Chameleon, Boot 132 and a retail Leopard disc? Will the drop-in Leopard disc work (it came with my Mini but so far has worked for installing on other Macs too).

If you can post where to get the other 2 items along with your how-to that would be appreciated. :)

The drop-in disc will only work if there's an existing OS X install on the hard drive. You can completely format and start fresh with it, though, and if you wanted to google around a bit there's instructions on how to modify it into a full retail install DVD.
