I think I've got access to a full retail disc somewhere too. Thanks for the heads up! :D

I think all we really need is the initrd.img file that you are using. Unless there are some special configs you used for your Boot132 ISO.

For either, I would be eternally grateful. I'd love to get as close to stock as possible. I'm getting tired of the "kernel shuffle" dance :)

At this point, I'll believe it when I see it.
Not getting my hopes up, but I guess anything is possible.

    dont be so f*cking impatient
    this is very rude.
this person has used their own time when they could be doing something much more interesting to get boot132 and retail leopard working on the aao.
hey also have a life and havent been paid for doing this.
so be happy when it does come out. i'm sure it will come soon, and if it doesnt so be it. you should be happpy someone has done the work for you. if you want it s badly, why dont you go work out how to make it work?

Come on man. Listen. Just be patient. If this gets posted, we're lucky enough if the work done is being shared.

I'd be half tempted to say "screw it" if I were the one with the knowledge and there were impatient people like you telling me to "just do it already!".

Be nice. Don't ruin it for everyone else that is patiently waiting.

I assume you are NOT running via BOOT132 bootloader...

If that is indeed the case, maybe you could start a new thread about your success and more detail about your previous install (iATKOS, Kalyway?) and the post install script. I know a number of people have had problems getting from 10.5.4 to 10.5.5 and might appreciate the details. Thanks!

If it turns out that you *are* running via the BOOT132 bootloader, we'd love to know what you did to get it working... so, maybe we can get back on topic about the BOOT132 methods...

It's done. I'll post it on my server tomorrow but here is the zipped version. Looks like HiM got it going too. Those are the same kexts that I have to use to get the rest running. If someone wants to host it on their server, i can send you a 14MB zipped file. email me

    Thanks for providing the instructions!

(EDIT, removed previous comment, I tried several times to hit your site over a span of many hours - but I guess it was down for maintenance).

    Ive used LDMx86.
This script helps you to convert Retail Leopard Install DVD into AAO specific self-booting Install Disk using boot-132.
But, it is made by Japanese programmer and README is written in Japanese.
So I do not know it is good to introduce this method here. :?

    Anyway, all I used are...

    Retail Leopard Install DVD
Some kexts (mentioned above, but now modified a little) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mzyjy02hnzm
LDMx86 v6 (You need ID and password to download. These are words written on inner package of Retail DVD. ID is the first word and password is the last.)

    Convert
    1. Download LDMx86 v6 from http://dream.so.land.to/, and extract. (This site is written in Japanese too)
    2. Put necessary kext files into LDMx86/KEXT folder.
    3. Mount your Retail Disk/Image.
    4. Open Terminal.app and change current directory to LDMx86.
    5. Type "sudo ./build.sh" and return. Select partition type you want. Wait for 10-20min.
    6. Burn this disk image to DVD.

    Install
    7. Boot from this DVD. <<<IMPORTANT>>> You have to set Kernel Flags "cpus=1".
    8. Before OS X installation, open DiskUtility to partion your install disk, and open Terminal.app.
    9. Type "/booter.sh InstallDriveName" to write boot-132 bootloader.
    10. Open DiskUtility again and fix the install volume.
    11. Install OS X. (Ignore error message when finished)
    12. When you reboot, you have to set Kernel Flags "cpus=1" again. (Ive edited com.apple.Boot.plist for next boot)

Kernel and almost all the kext files are Vanilla!
You can update to 10.5.5 via software update without problem, if you use AppleDecrypt.kext.

    thanks,

Im guessing no hyperthreading is there if cpus=1
hmm, i was looking to upgrade, but now its less likely as ht works on iatkos.
what advantages bar updates are there of this install?

This is a good method, but once you inject anything into the retail DVD, legality become a bit of an issue. No matter. This is another write up that will work.
