    Hi,
I have the XP Acer Aspire One 120gb with no upgrades and the only unusual software I'm running is the Fan Control application set to 60 degrees C.
Last night, I wen't to bed with the laptop playing a few episodes of the office in Windows Media Player.
The laptop was plugged in and I have the power management settings set to Never Never Never and the screen saver to None.
When I woke up this morning, the green power light was not on and the screen was blank, and when I pressed keyboard buttons the laptop wouldn't wake up. I unplugged the power cord from the wall and pressed the power button and that didn't do anything either.
I pulled the battery and put it back in, and the laptop booted.
Did my aspire one somehow go into a deep sleep or hibernation and pressing a keyboard key doesn't wake it up from that? I'm not sure why a battery pull was required...
Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.
    -Bill

    Probably overheat.
I saw that the software for the fan is not perfect. It has hard time to cool my AA1, even if i set it to run a 55c

fortunately for me I'm not a member... yet

fortunately for you re-flashing and downgrading the bios seems to fix the issue...

P.S. lay off the fan control. You know a lot less about the thermals in that machine than Acer does. Acer have done a lot of tweaking on the fan tables, you can see in the BIOS revisions. There is a real risk of system failure if you overide the built-in settings.

I'm just glad that I'm apparently deaf, cause the fan doesn't bother me. Therefore I don't need to go tweaking things I know I shouldn't.

haha, I am actually very sentitive to noise, and noise doesn't really bother me either, it has a small whine to the noise...
mine came with 3114, is it a good idea to change this bios?
