MY Aspire has died on me-blank screen, keyboard not working, power is on and sounds like fan is working. Apart from sending it back to Acer for repair is there anything I can do myself-the pc is only about 4 months old, I did have a password on the bios startup but never entered that wrongly, it just died for no apparent reason.

If it is black the second you power it on (no BIOS) then you can try to flash the BIOS.

Acer One Bios Recovery Section. I just had a BSOD while trying to install XP and could not get anything to happen. This did the trick. However you will need a thumb drive and another computer to create it.

The plagiarism is starting to get a tad bit annoying. That text was literally taken from the macles* blog - but of course that website does not mention that :(

Ok first off I read another post somewhere around here mentioning that it might void your warranty. Not sure if that matters to you (I voided mine about 20 minutes after buying it).

Ok to format as USB drive as FAT go to My Computer, right click on the thumb drive, and choose "Fromat..." then youll see a format options window pop up. One of them gives the option to format as FAT (not sure if FAT32 works, I chose the FAT option for it).

To copy the files to the drive I extracted the BIOS files I downloaded and one of the folders contained 4 files, one called 3308, a .txt file with information, FLASHIT.exe and a .fd file. I just copied and pasted those files onto the thumbdrive (didnt put in any folders just the files on the drive). Then renamed the .fd file.

    Hope that helps some.
