    Hey guys,

Im new on the scene and currently debating these netbooks:

    Acer AspireOne AO721-3922
    http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_ ... _id=035401

    Acer AspireOne AO752-2105
    http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_ ... _id=035073

above links are not the most detailed for specifics

Which one would you recommend for some:

-light gaming with the occasional 'new'ish' game thrown in on low settings
-hoards of powerpoints, pdfs, and word files
    -highest quality youtube video playback
    -abuse of browser tabs
    -good webcam

How do the processors compare? How do the video cards compare? 3 cell battery life???
I know a little the 721 but nothing about the 752 as I came across it recently.

Any thoughts from you guys would be appreciated as I research more. Thanks in advance!

I have my fifth Acre netbook an AOD721. It is a beautiful machine and runs great. But the 752 is a better purchase. It will offer more battery life (I get about 3.5 hours). It will run cooler. It should accomodate (in theory) linux better (if that is important to you....) The 721 is less expensive. I believe performance would be about equal.

I changed my opinion. This machine (752) in particular has a three cell battery so no advantage there. And after a little thought the AMD chip should be slightly faster. Good luck.

    Thanks for the reply

I looked into the processors and gpus of these two laptops:
the 752's SU2300 is dual-core and is benchmarked in Passmark's CPU tests to be almost double the AMD K125.
I know this is a theoretical all cpu stress test but with GPU's i think it breaks down to this:
    721 -weak processor-strong gpu-
    752 -strong processor-weak gpu-

the outcome of which I cannot accurately determine

how would flash 10.1 run on these you think? and youtube 720/1080p?

Thanks again for any further insight!

I was looking at this EXACT question the last few nights. Literally exact, from Canada computers. In fact I still have both links open on my screen. And I had the exact same question as you, which to get.

    Then I found this:
    http://www.thesource.ca/estore/product. ... QAWidgetID

It's an upgraded version of the AO721. Better configuration for the same price. DDR3 ram vs DDR2. Gigabit nic. And better warranty, as you can just take it into any The Source locations, where with Canada Computers you have to deal with Acer yourself. And supposedly the one from Canada Computers has 2x1gb ram, where the one from The Source has 1x2gb, meaning there's one open slot. That makes upgrading to 4Gb ram cheaper since you can just buy a single 2gb stick.

It's a demo model, but The Source refurbishes them really well. i've had good experience with them in the past, as have friends of mine.

I ordered one a few hours ago. Can't wait to get it. Will be definitely upgrading to 4GB ram...Canada computers has some for $20

    Hope that helps

Edit: The Source one has Bluetooth too, Canada computers does not
