Avermedia A312 or A306aB?

I did a bit of a search but came up with nothing on these 2 cards, im looking for a tv card to fit internally to my acer which has the pci-e slot in place and was wondering which one to choose.

The A312 is £30 with £10 delivery and the A306aB is £40 with £7 delivery.

So im wondering has anyone got any suggestions or experience with these cards?

A312 is ATSC for North America

A306 is DVB-T for everywhere else.

I do have one of the A312 coming to try out, but have been pretty happy with my "Pinnacle Mini HD" 80e ATSC tuner so far.

For me personally, i would just like to have an internal card to leave the usb ports free and not have anything coming out of the laptop as such.

Another question would be weather the internal antenna would be any good?

 

The Pinnacle Mini HD fits inside the AAO. It is very small.

Built in antenna does not work for ATSC, I have experimented with a number of antennas and can only get a few channels. Whereas a roof mounted antenna works perfectly.

 

Would fitting that require modding of the one? It is a usb device is it not?

It is usb and small enough to fit in the front of the AAO under the motherboard next to the left speaker,

but you need a usb connection and have to bring the antenna connection outside the AAO's case.

 

Here is the Pinnacle Mini HD tuner installed in lower case. Tested working fine. Note vent holes, tuner lights up blue when on.

 

A312 mini PCI express card works fine. It uses the USB lines on the connector.
