    Hi liamweaver,

Please say exactly what you have done and if you saved the image you want to use on the desktop here?

    /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/pictures

Also did you go to desktop preferences > appearance tab and check the show image box then select it from the above location?

    Hello liamweaver,

I believe you may have answered your own question in the title of your post, you must put your image(s) in the "backdrops" directory.

(I am assuming you changed to the XFCE desktop, if not, follow all the steps in this link, it works very nice)

See step 6 of this link.

    Hi leamweaver

Another way to achieve the same thing is to open terminal and type sudo thunar. It will open file manager in root.

This allows you to copy/paste from say the pictures folder into the /user/share/xfce/backdrops folder.

You will see the warning sign about files opened in root so be careful.
