baldurs gate 2

hi ,
people have said they have got balders gate 2 running ,
i tried to intall to my other pc and copy the files over view usb stick , this had worked on numerous games ,
but when i start balders gate it says its not intalled ! , has this got something to do with the registry , was trying to just copy nd paste without intalling to save my registry clogging up .

will i have to actually have to "install " it ?

Any help would be great guys ?

I would honestly just install it. That way you don't have to mess with registries and all of that nonsense.

 

I am have installed and patched to the last patch, but am still not able to get past the startup screen. I modified all the executables in the main directory to XP Service Pack 2 compatible, but still crashes when I start it. I am running Vista on an AO751h (2gb RAM/250GBhdd). Any help or insight would be appreciated.
