This is my first post on this forum and I am not fully sure whether it is the right category or not.

Whilst preparing for my holidays I started my Acer Aspire One (pink :) ) to make sure I have all the latest updates from Windows and virus checkers. All fine but I notices after a couple of hours that the battery charge light was still blinking, I took out the power AC and it shut down immediately. I put it back in and it was fine, however I noticed that in the power meter my battery still said it was at 0%. Really weird as I used it quite happily 2 weeks ago during a weekend break.

Anyway I started searching the web and ended up here and found the tip about starting without battery on AC only and put the battery in. This does not work :( no battery indicator and the light is flashing again...

So I found the messages about upgrading the BIOS however I am not an IT wiz so first of all a very dumb question, how do I find out which BIOS I have at the moment? (My little pink Acer is only 5 months old) and how can I upgrade this?

Apologies for the long post but I am a newbie here so please correct me if I have done something wrong, however I hope you will be able to help me.

Aspire one AOA-110 or AOA-150 Windows XP only

"If the battery discharges below a certain charge level, it may not be able to be
recharged unless the System BIOS is flashed to revision 3309 or later." extract from acer support usa.

    Instructions:
1...Download and extract the latest BIOS for the netbook. (I downloaded 3310)
2...Rename the BIOS file from 3310.fd to zg5ia32.fd.
3...Drop all files on to a blank flash drive
4...Insert flash drive in to acer
5...Boot acer in to windows xp
6...select flash drive and click on InsydeFlash AOA-150

I have just done it on two dead batteries, now charging fine, Friday 28 August 2009 theborgbabe, England
This is only for the Acer aspire one AOA-11O or AOA-150 Windows XP only

    Dowload the correct bios here:
    http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads_gd.html

If you are using windows you can just unzip the file and run insydeflash.exe
Make sure you have th AC plugged in.
