Is there a way to have the status of my battery on my task line below so I can always tell how much battery power I have left rather than going through the Control Panel.

I you are running Windows XP go to control panel>appearance & themes>task bar & start menu. At the bottom where it says "notification area" I assume "hide inactive icons" is checked. You can either un-check that option or choose "customize" and find the battery icon in the following list and click on "hide when inactive" click the little drop down and choose "always show". Then click ok to back out of everything. Now your battery status icon will always appear in your taskbar.
