I did a little test tonight of battery life on my Acer One.

    Stats: 3-cell battery
Screen brightness was on the lowest setting, WiFi was on, my 160gb was set to spin down after 3 mins (but I'm sure it was going at times), Windows XP, 1gb ram.
I was playing a Divx episode of South Park, on repeat , using Media Player Classic in full-screen mode.

    Here's the graphs.

Above, is the time test. I started my system with the battery freshly charged from a previous drain.

As you can see, aside from the first 20 minutes, the estimated and actual time remaining were pretty close the rest of the way. I don't imagine it's all that hard to write code to predict time remaining, but it's good code that keeps these numbers so close.

This one shows battery drain for the 1h46m test. As expected, it's a nice slope.

    So.. that's that..
