    I currently have 3301 on my A150.

Do the newer versions have more performance?
Are there any big differences besides the Brightness Table?

Does the ZG7_3103.zip from Gateway work on my A150?
Is it true, that this is based on the 3309 from Acer? Why the different numbers?

    -macles

Does A1CTL work on the Gateway BIOS?
Is there any benefit from using the Gateway instead of the Acer BIOS except Brightness Table?

The best BIOS to upgrade A150 too?
    3310 from acer site.

3301 goes bad easily in my opinion.
3310 is rock solid, and I have never seem the 3310 bios go bad.

I don't have the answers to your other questions.

Mine shipped with 3301, have no problems, and absolutely no interest in screwing around with the continuous "upgrades" and complicated primitive Acer flashing process. When Acer grows up like the big boys and provides a simple upgrade executable from Windows for its FINAL BIOS, I'll consider it. (I've owned Toshiba, HP and Dell computers that issued ONE, count it, BIOS update in an easy *.exe executable within XP, and have never seen such bloody nonsense as Acer's endless and uninteresting string of new BIOS versions - my only gripe about this neat little gadget.)

Has a windows install package. I don't have the notes now but there have been quite a few improvements. My guess is 3310 may be the last given the release of Win 7.

Mine came with 3301. One day i got stuck in the boot screen ... no ACER logo, nothing! As it was in warranty period, I sent it to Acer for repair. It came back with 3309. After that I installed Windows 7 and I was happy, until I decided to upgrade to 3310. Guess what ? W7 won't boot ! After runing W7 repair a couple of times, I finaly got Windows 7 working with 3310.
It is pretty stable now, but I haven't seen any performance improvement, actually I haven't seen any improvement at all.
So, the best BIOS version ? In my opnion 3309 or 3310. If you want to run W7 and 3310, just upgrade the BIOS first, then install W7.

This is something I saved which worked for me:

    Acer Aspire One BIOS Recovery
The AA1 has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, making it possible to flash the BIOS even if the system doesn't boot anymore. It's only meant for emergencies and may void your warranty, so use at your own risk.

    Follow every step carefully!

First format an USB stick with FAT.

Download the latest BIOS, and put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the stick. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD, that's important. Do not remove the USB stick.

Turn the AA1 off, make sure both battery and AC adapter are connected. Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the AA1 on. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, the power button will be blinking. Press the power button once. The AA1 will now initiate the BIOS flash, do not interrupt it under any circumstances. After a while the power button will stop blinking, and the AA1 will reboot shortly after. Wait patiently.

The BIOS has been flashed and all settings reset to default.

If for some reason you made a mistake during the procedure and it doesn't reboot by itself wait 5 minutes before turning it off, just to be safe that it isn't still flashing the BIOS.
