I'm looking for the best operating system for the acer one 110 upgraded to 1gig ram. I want something thats fast works with all features of the laptop as is no messing around in konsole or anything to get a wireless network card to work. I'd prefer to hear windows but i know xp is slow so idk about vista. I can go linux but im very unfamiliar with it. I loath running the make command in linux so if anyone has any ideas id greatly appreciate it. Performance is at the top of my mind but nothing to complicated i have a little sister who uses it as well so anything to complicated wouldnt fly

Who said XP is slow? Look at the windows section of the forum, you'll see what I mean.

Also, take a look at the video link below, it shows that XP is not slow on the A110. It's not rocket fast obviously the AAO is a netbook, but it's not slow at all.

That's because you most probably you installed it on NTFS.... that's the biggest mistake you can do if you're on the slow SSD of the A110. Reinstall in FAT32, and read up on the thread about happy XP experience with the Acer Aspire One... XP is fast on the A110 my friend, you just need to know how to install properly. Cheers. ;)

Here's an linux based OS to keep your eyes on:

    http://moblin.org/documentation/moblin-netbook-intro

It's called moblin, and it's still in beta but progressing quickly. It's a linux distribution designed just for netbooks, and is aimed at users that use their netbook for internet, photos, music, video, and social networking. IE, you can't really run any application you want, but performance and presentation is great for these simple activities.

If anyone tries it out on their aspire one, let us know how it turns out!

Without eboostr. With eboostr, it's about 5 seconds faster.
