Currently loaded and operating fine on my Aspire One:

AVG anti-virus. Sygate Firewall. ACDSee 10 (graphics program). Latest edition of Open Office (complete). eBoostr (speed-up prefetch program, 4gig card installed). Convert XP to Vista program (makes XP look like Vista). Rainbar (creates & allows Vista type widgets on desktop). Windows Media Player 10. Windows Live Messenger 8.5 (the BEST version!) Advanced System Care Pro (latest edition). Palm Desktop (to sync my Zire 72s PDA). Paragon Hard Disk Manager. Weather Pulse (weather program). Stardock Cursor XP with Blue Dot animated cursor. Abexo Registry Cleaner. Tracking The Eye (hurricane program). Mozilla Firefox (3.5) Mozilla Thunderbird. And a host of other small utilities and add-ons to numerous to list.

Standard Saphire Blue Edition. 8.9" screen. 160 gig HDD. 1 gig RAM. 3-cell battery (I'm getting two hours PLUS!) Win XP Home.

Runs like a bat out of hell and doesn't slow down when multi-tasking. Anyone says that these Aspire One's are just for email and online surfing don't know what they hold in their hand. Eye strain is the biggest concern during extended use with the 8.9" screen, but the new 10" isn't much better. Biggest pain in the butt is complete disassembly to add RAM. Hatch on bottom for that on the new 10". I usually am running two browsers, downloading graphics, ACDSee10 manipulating huge graphics, while transferring files around in different folders and writing and sending email. Any other questions?

    Hi there.

I use Avast on my AA1 with it runs well without problem, and also open office works great :D

I am currently finding that Crome seems to run better then Firefox - although both run well

    Cheers

I actually just reformatted and made an effort to go with mostly lite software. Not all of them are lite alternatives but its what I normally choose to use.

[*]7-Zip (not that much liter I guess)
    [*]Utorrent
    [*]Foobar2000 (alt: Windows Media Player)
    [*]Media Player Classic (see above)
    [*]NOD32 Antivirus (not freeware)
    [*]Foxit Reader (alt: Adobe Reader)
    [*]Ifran Viewer
[*]Pidgin (alt: mIRC, Yahoo & MSN Messenger)
    [*]Notepad++
[*]Firefox (but still not as lite as I'd like..)
    [*]Daemon Tools
    [*]CCleaner
[*]Defraggler (defragger from the makers of CCleaner)

[*]Open Office ! Important note though, to get a good performance boost go into options and disable the java runtime environment.
