Do this, if you use add/remove. Ccleaner is great.

What the hell is a DVD app doing in a laptop without DVD drive?

I would have imagined Windows Media Player was installed.

    Thanks.
    Joe.

If you're setting up a wireless network at home, you can watch DVD movies from your main computer's DVD drive somewhere else in the house using the freebie player on the AA1. WMP doesn't play them. Careful about babies in the bathwater.

It doesn't really come with much of anything installed... Removing Office trial/Works, McAfee, and Google Desktop takes like less than 5 min and I doubt any of 'em leave much crap behind. /shrug Other than those I think the only stuff installed by default are the essential drivers and like Adobe Flash (for IE)/Reader... I removed all of it save for Adobe Reader, gonna compare the newest version to Foxit and see if Foxit's still noticeably faster. I did re-install my own older version of Office 2003 though.

If you can't figure out how to use Acer's own system restore or how to re-install Windows by itself then you should probably just avoid it anyway, it's really not worth the hassle. As I said, it doesn't come with much, if any, crapware installed. Just remove the office suites and MA and install your own flavor of AV and you're good to go. Oh it also comes with PowerDVD installed but I think they might've done that to get a working MPEG2 decoder on the system (WMP still doesn't have one by default does it?), just remove it's "MediaLauncher" thingie from the Startup folder.

The program and the decoder itself are good to have if you do any movie watching on the AAO, though you'll probably be ripping DVDs to something else entirely like h.264 before transferring 'em, still though. As mentioned above, PowerDVD might've been bundled just for movie watching off shared drives as well. It doesn't take much space anyway, and it's not like it eats resources.

I've installed this "netbook friendly" puppy 4.1.1 derivative 6 weeks ago.

No hassle, no crap, fast & slim.

    Efficient team support too. :)

I got tired of using Linpus for wifi & web, Mint Linux 5.0 for dvd, mpeg, mp3 etc...

Ubuntu Studio to manage drives (only one capable to access all partitions for transfering files from one Linux to another). :(

Easy to install & use Puppy Linux comes with all help files aboard.

My own Puppy derivative will be released soon.

    Pup It Up !

Pup up the volume with pupitup portable (USB stick) mini studio.
A music oriented netbook friendly Puppy Linux.
