I think you guys are risking way too much just to have a better dithering on the One.
In fact you have TWO ways to do it. The first, with a simple updated driver wich will mess your settings and bla bla bla (previous comments are here to prove what I am saying), OR you could enable dithering on the One, following Macle's Tutorial("macles" was intended to be the original name of the One).

I did it and it works great. Beware the gradient effect will appear even after this tweak, but it is a hardware limitation of the LCD (read all about it in macle's blog).

I think his blog and AspireOneUser are great links for any one of us.

Deoki - We've read his blog. The question is have you read this thread?

I'm tired of repeating this - the driver in the download link in the first post is the same driver you will get by following macles' instructions. Minus actually having to do the work, which I have done for you.

The hardware limitation was also debated a few posts ago.

    Sorry. My pumpkin head did it again... ;_;

I have been fiddling around with the updated driver and after getting some problems, decided to return to the previous one, but as I never tried to reinstall the whole OS, I did it. Im glad it worked fine, or I would have borked my gf's One... -_-U uufff...

Hey everyone, I'm new here... so hi lol.

But I was wondering (linux noobie) if this file could be a .deb file? I'm using Ubuntu and I can't open or use that .rpm file. Thanks in advance.

Raging daemon - there is nothing wrong with the Ubuntu graphics driver, therefore you don't need this on Ubuntu. In fact, this driver is taken FROM ubuntu hardy, and compiled to run on Fedora.

I'd like to use the 2.2.1 driver since video + compiz don't play nice together with the current driver I have. So, I set out to download the xf86-video-intel sources and install the dependencies needed. However, running configure gives me this error:
    no package 'xvmc' found.

I have xvmc installed. I assume configure just doesn't know where to look for it, but I can't figure out how to tell it where to look. Any help?

    rebuilder: look for libxvmc-devel

if the configure process asks for any more dependencies, make sure you install all the related "-devel" files for the packages.

for example if you need "drm", the installed package that's already there is "libdrm" and you will need to add "libdrm-devel"

I've been trying to compile a list of all the files that are needed to compile, but I have a lot of other unecessary files and I'm afraid I've done a bad job keeping track of what I used :(

    Thanks! A great job.

Not really the state of the art, but keeping in mind the 65K hardware limitation, it's pretty much better than before.
I've just connected the One to my LCD TV and there it looks really perfect.

    Wonderful!

annafil: Can we expect an rpm of version 2.2.1 of the graphics driver soon? I'd love to see if it brings any fps improvements in games =).
