    Seems quite a jump from v3309 to v3340. Can I ask, what makes you think that this version is imminent?

    I'm curious to know what it is you want fixed in the next release?

    I would like something like boot booster option on there just like the some of the Asus Eee PC's have.
    And something like you can disable features like the Webcam, Wi-fi things like that.
    And a new splash screen.
    I was on 3109 yesterday and upgraded straight to 3309 with FreeDos.
    On the 3309 bios I noticed quicker POST Time. They have took away some of the lower brightness settings.
    And my Wi-fi works after going into sleep mode. ( I am using Eeebuntu 8.10 with the Array Kernel)
    And the Card Reader Works properly too.

    It's been 5 months since acer gave out a BIOS update for the 8.9" AAO

    If the backlight brightness is unacceptable then you may consider either downgrading to Acer BIOS v3314, or use the Gateway or Pack Bell BIOS instead. Note that you will almost certainly have issues with fan control software if you use the Gateway or Packard Bell BIOS.

    My gut feeling is that Acer are winding down support for ZG5 models, unless there are specific Windows 7 issues that need addressing then I am not sure that we will see another BIOS update for this model.

    The acerfand issue is easy to solve. Just add this line next to the others like this:

    BIOS_VERSION_3309="v0.3103"

    This maps Gateway Bios to the Acer 3309 Bios.
    The additional advantage is that there is a Boot-Selection right from the start via F10.

    Unfortunately, Windows users won't have the luxury of being able to remap BIOS version numbers in their fan control software.

    The Acer BIOS has the boot selection menu via F12. Is having it via F10 instead really an advantage?
