Thanks for the tip! But can you make some guide how to update the BIOS with UNetbootin?

My One died today! This is several days after doing the 1MB memory upgrade and upgrading the Bios. This seems to be a frequent problem.

Personally I think the problem is more likely to be Bios related than down to the DRAM. Therefore I wouldn't advise anyone to upgrade to v0.3114 Bios until this problem is sorted out.

Although I love my One I would also advise anyone thinking about buying to wait until we know whether this is a general problem (needing a recall) or not. There does seem to be a fairly major reliability problem with these machines!

Agree with Achilles, do not upgrade your BIOS to 0.3114!

I have contacted Acer several times regarding this.

Firstly they will NOT honour your warranty if you have been inside the box (although they indicate on their OWN website that the meory is upgradeable to 1.5GB apparently it is impossible to do this without invalidating your warranty).

Second, they still do not recognise that this is a BIOS issue. There is a serious QA issue here folks and these guys are in a state of denial. If this is true and they ship out the millions of units expected for Q3 and Q4 they are going to have a problem BIG TIME. Even they get 1% return it will really hurt them. Perosnally I think this is a systematic problem affecting all machines with the v3114 BIOS. If this is the case then this will cost them millions as current machines are all shipped with this BIOS.

    Hello,

Dead One here too, totally black screen, bios v. 3114. Luckily i was able to recover bios with instructions found here. Thanks!

I believe now it's time to make one recovery USB stick to bios too and keep it in safe place

Is the Bios (vers 09) posted here : http://www.humyo.com/240597-160432785 compatible with the A150 (The XP, 120 gig hd, 6 cell) model ? I want to downgrade my Bios since mine came with 14 and I have some major sleep/hibernate issues.

    Thanks

Hi. I just got my computer and am trying to do the BIOS update to 3304 (in Windows). I made a bootable floppy, but then I looked and the BIOS files are just slightly larger than a floppy disk. I made a bootable CD, but my software won't let me add any files. I have followed several links on this forum and have been unable to make a bootable thumb drive. The link on this thread for doing so is no longer valid. Please help! Thanks.

bcrobb again. OK, I'm trying to use UNetbootin. I ran the exe file. When I reboot, it gives me 5 choices: to install to the C hard drive, to install in safe mode, and there are three options involving a live CD. Which do I choose? Thanks.

Where are you getting your DOS files from ? Pleae post a url.
When I build from the fdfullcd.iso or the small base version I get a drive that boots but it is running a Linux shell and does drop out to DOS.
    Files derived from FreeDOS.org site.

    Help.
    Thanks
