I have purchased a AAO-D250 at my local Walmart. It came with BIOS v.1.02 I went to Acer's US website and found that there is a version 1.03 Can someone tell me the current improvements of this version vs. 1.02 Also I'm trying to find how to update (or flash) the BIOS on the D250. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm sorry if I'm repeating a topic that has been previously discussed, I made a search and couldn't find an answer.

Check this thread for the procedure. The info is near the end. Just be sure you have the right version for your model. Don't assume the D150 and D250 share the same software.

I flashed my AOD250 BIOS from 1.02 to 1.03, no obvious difference one way or the other.

Flash is done via windows, simply download and execute, I recommend that you do this from a cold start and have no other programs open.
As yet I have not found any release notes, the BIOS upgrade may be for myriad reasons, stability & compatibility would be reasonable at this stage.

If you are uncertain do not proceed, failure to flash the BIOS can result in bricking the netbook, and it has to be seen if the AOD250 has the failed flash (blind) recovery routine, like the AOD150 has

1.06 also seems to try to stop some 3g adapters from working.... my 881 no longer works unless i tape pin 20... it worked fine on 1.02. never tried 1.03

Seen that some of the 3G adaptors are now blocked in 1.06

How does the D250 perform with Win7 rc1, and does it affect the battery life? I have 2Gb running the vanilla XP, with N280 CPU so is reasonably snappy for a Netbook.

well, my n270 (haven't actually seen a n280 in the us with my own eyes yet) runs rc1 fine....kinda wish it had better video acceleration.
as far as battery life.... not sure. i only had xp on it for 1-2 hours to create the restore discs and formatted straight to 7.

just tossing an idea out... could editing the ini file in the flash possibly bring back the ability to use other 3g cards with the switch?

Is there a way to find out what 1.07 changes? They don't document these very well...
